INTRODUCTION

I came across Mr. Schiessler (a lifelong Gerry Rafferty fan!) through my Gerry Rafferty Tribute page. I guess there must have been something about Gerry on his page because I sent in a friend request, he accepted ..................... and then I played his music!!!

No other way to describe it, but .................... WOW!!!
The most refreshing sound I have heard in almost ten years! The last time I felt this enthusiastic about music was when I discovered and entered Gerry's world, and that certainly made an impact on my life.

In my opinion, he is up there with all the great talents of the world - and the fact that he might be any less ..."famous" ... than (as an example) Gerry Rafferty in his heyday, I think is solely due to world trends, which unfortunately dictate "success" in large part.
If you're over the age of sixteen or so, and take a look at who is out there making millions with their music, you've got to see just how crazy it all is.
It's really up to us to get behind the music we love and TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT!!!!

Speaking of Gerry Rafferty - who is my music hero! - another quite substantial difference between him and John, which really interested me is that Gerry's work is all autobiographical. The fact that his songs portray the man he was, when he had trouble expressing himself any other way, is a huge part of the reason people are drawn to his work.
John's work isn't like that because other people write the lyrics, for the most part.
Why that interested me so much, is that I feel so, so moved by his music and obviously it isn't words from him doing that. It just goes to show that the language of music not only stands on its own, but goes a lot deeper than the English language or the German language.
Writing like his, playing like his, his beautiful rich voice - are God-given gifts, and there is no doubt that his work comes from within him as much as Gerry's lyrics came from his heart.

Honestly, words can't describe how much I love the self produced, self-titled debut CD and the follow-up, "Wildcat Cafe". An explosion of incredible sound!
A combination of excellent song writing, highly skilled musicianship (his guitar playing is second to none. That slide guitar! My God, I love that sound!!) sheer vocal strength and beautiful, rich harmonising.

Visit his "Space". Turn up the volume (WAY UP!!) and let it take you away. I guarantee you won't be able to keep your feet from tapping and your head from bobbing.
It's THAT great!!

THE MORE YOU CRY

This incredible song is ... ALL ... John H. Schiessler.
Music and Lyrics!
An absolutely BRILLIANT track, which will be on the third Beige Fish CD - hopefully to arrive in late 2012 or early 2013!!

BLACK QUEEN

"Black Queen" was written by Stephen Stills and released in 1970 on his first album (self-titled.)
I can't say ENOUGH about this cover!
This version by BEIGE FISH, is the BEST cover of any song, by anybody, anywhere, any time. The STUNNING guitar work by John Schiessler is absolutely FLAWLESS - and the strong, gritty vocals are nothing short of MESMERISING.
This song is included on the 2011 CD by Beige Fish, "Wildcat Cafe".

TEEPEE FLATS

The closing track on the Beige Fish self-titled debut CD of 2010.
The only instrumental on John's CDs to date, this track is just LOADED with atmosphere. So, so brilliant!

BABE RUTH

NB: This video is best viewed at 480p

Another wonderful song from the absolutely STUNNING new CD, Wildcat Cafe, written by John D. Wyker and here, brilliantly given a new lease on life in true John H. Schiessler STYLE!
A lovely, positive, happy song about a young man's thankfulness for the support of his lady and her family :-) And I hope I've managed to capture the carefree feel the song gives me in the photographs.
Thanks, Dayna and Colten, for a wonderful effort!

"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
(Berthold Auerbach)

Thanks so much, John, for washing away the dust and brightening our lives with your beautiful voice, guitar, and everything else that goes with it!

THE SAME OLD BLUES

A fantastic J.J. Cale song from 1974 (please tell me I have the date right this time!) brilliantly - and BOLDY - revived by John!

THE SAD BAG OF SHAKEY JAKE

Staring my two beautiful little grandsons - Tobey as Shakey Jake, and Baby Ollie as the Texas Ranger!
The song is fun and the video was meant to be fun ... and it WAS fun!
The boys had a good day out filming - and I am sure they are both going to grow up to be big Beige Fish fans :-)

A special thanks to Steve Smith, of Stage Parades, for his part in adding to the Beige Fish presence on YouTube, by putting together the videos of "You Hurt My baby", "The Same Old Blues" and "The Sad Bag of Shakey Jake".
