Back in the day: I remember my mom playing her Crystal Gayle and Bonnie Raitt tapes like nobody's business. When the pre and teen years were upon me, I was very into various R&B, pop, and hip hop artists.
NOW: Fiona Apple, (mmm...fiona), Tori Amos, Alanis Morrisette, Imogen Heap, Joni Mitchell, Alicia Keys, Ani Difranco, Lauryn Hill (and the collective FugeeLa), Dave Matthews Band, Damien Rice, Ginger Doss, Dreamtrybe, Wyrdgrl, SJ Tucker (skinnywhitechick), Suzanna Choffel, Poe, Seal, Storm, Jack Johnson, KT Tunstall, John Mayer, Sting, Perfect Circle, King's X, Be Good Tanyas, Ben Harper, Sarah Mclaughlin, raw and intelligent hip-hop artists of which there are too many to name, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Amy Winehouse, Feist, The Kin, Sia, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Nelly Furtado, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Bjork, and Heart. I think I could take up pages on bands that I think are amazing. I love music of all kinds. Anything with an emotional spine or something to say (said well, said cleverly, said beautifully, and worth being said) paired with a well crafted sound = I dig it. I feel it in my bones, even deeper. I love hearing a new artist who brings these things to the table (or chair, or ottoman) or being turned on to an artist thats been around yet somehow managed to allude me. My influences broaden with every day I'm here in this world.

You can't see Ry in any of the shots, but you can damn sho' feel him back there, holdin it down. Rock on brotha! Filmed and edited by Kevin Wiley. Thanks K! Love love love!
Bekah has been writing music and exploring her vocal talent for most of her life. From an early age, she was exposed to a wide variety of theatre and music which quickly won Bekah’s attention and deep affection. By 10, she had already appeared in several musical productions. Her powerful voice got lots of attention, bringing an emotional quality not heard in many singers, especially not ones so young as she. This attention turned into invitations to perform solo on some of the most notable stages in her home town of San Antonio, TX, including the historic Majestic Theatre.
After high school, Bekah moved to Austin where she met the dynamic female fronted band ‘Dreamtrybe’, whose members were also taken with the depth and quality of Bekah's voice. She toured as a background vocalist with the band throughout Texas, Florida, Kansas, and Alaska, gaining invaluable performance experience. Over the last 6 years, Bekah has built a strong foundation for her solo career. She is playing more and more shows each month, picking up momentum and new fans at every one.
People ask her, "What kind of music do you play?" Such a broad question, she thinks. Or maybe it's the answer that seems too wide to articulate, especially in an industry that demands you tell us who you are and what you do in 10 words or less. Well then, how about "jazzy-folk rythyms with intricate melodies, touchable lyrics, and fierce emotional flavor."
In the summer of 2005, Bekah wrote and recorded her first demo at Eagle Audio in Austin, TX. In November 2007, she completed "A Prelude to Mud...the EP" and is currently working on her full length album expected out in the late spring of 2008.
Both Bekah's and the extremely talented Ginger Doss's new EP's are available for purchase on www.gbmojo.com.
