I'm kind of moody and blessed with ADHD so I have a wide range of interests, none of which I'm great at or know everything about. I like to know a little bit about lots of things, though. It's a good bet that if you have an interest in something, I'd be interested enough to listen to you talk about it, absorbing just enough for my own curiosity to be sated. Examples of my own include design and construction of ANYTHING from clothing to furniture to meals. I love paranormal stuff and will pay attention to it just long enough to get the heebee jeebees so I can't sleep. I love history. And literature. And gardening. Football (Let's Gooooo, Mountaineeers!) Hockey (Canes won the Cup!) Politics (I'm slightly left of Al Franken) Art-glass, WWII era music, any form of dance, languages (one of each of us are learning German, Spanish, and French right now so we should be up for some traveling soon) I love language and words and punctuation and spelling, even when I do any of them incorrectly. I love hats and hatboxes and I wish there were more opportunity to wear the hats nowadays. I'm going to stop now before I get right down to the differences in skin creams.
Music
I love music and my sweetheart wrote my favorite song. He can play anything you put in his hands but I only play the radio. I play it well and often, though. I love Soundgarden, particularly Chris Cornell. I love Phantom of the Opera, cheese and all. I listen to the classics channel on XM while I'm writing and Alternative stuff when I'm cleaning or playing around the house. Rich and I introduced Kevin to a lot of great music and in return he introduces me to his favorite stuff. Which is why I have a Coheed & Cambria disc in my car that I can't stop listening to. I gave him Green Day and Nirvana and he gave me My Chemical Romance and Fallout Boy. It's not a bad relationship to have with your son. I love 80s dance music and 70s disco and a few days ago I heard George Michael's "Father Figure" on the radio. Is that not the sexiest song there ever was? I don't remember it being so gravid with sexual tension but, man! Mine and Rich's "song" is Moondance by Van Morrison -- I'd never heard it before, but it was playing in the background when we met.
Movies
There are few movies I love enough to claim as favorites. The ones that I'll stop and watch every time I see them on television are Shawshank Redemption, When Harry Met Sally, Napoleon Dynamite, Shaun of the Dead, and the BBC's version of Pride and Prejudice. Those will suck the whole day away from me if I'm not careful.
Television
This season I can't wait for Chuck and Dirty, Sexy, Money. All of us love Heroes, Lost, and anything to do with Battlestar Gallactica. And I can't wait to see how they manage Life on Mars; I'm praying this is the one British show they don't screw up in translation. Most reality shows irritate the snot out of me but I loooove fashion so when Project Runway is on, I'm there.
Books
The love of learning, the sequestered nooks,And all the sweet serenity of books.- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. ***************************
My interest in books is legendary. I have six of those five-shelf bookcases full of books and sometimes I go sit in front of them and just look at the wall of books like I'd look at prints in a museum. I do not have a favorite. Moody, remember? But I can choose six that represent the basic make-up of the bookshelves -- one book from each. 1) Gone With the Wind, I used to read it every year to get through the month of January. 2) The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. If you haven't read that yet, you need to stop reading THIS and go get it. Immediately. 3) Fast Women by Jenny Crusie. I haven't giggled this much since high school and talk about feeling empowered. 4) A Gatefield Portfolio of the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. In a parallel universe I'm an architect; in this life I can only sigh over the pictures. 5) The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexadre Dumas. I know, it's a classic, gag, right? But it's so much like The Shawshank Redemption mixed with some sweet, sweet revenge. And speaking of Shawshank.... 6) The Stand by Stephen King. I am afraid of vampires, aliens, rabid dogs, and killer prom queens but The Stand is the book by King that scared me most of all.
Heroes
Heroes are the people who change your life, inspire you to be better than you thought you were. My sister who died too young, but went as she chased wholeheartedly after a dream, my favorite authors, a constantly shifting list, who continue to put out work that inspires me to work to my own personal best, and my parents and in-laws, two couples who have held on for the long haul, both working on fourth decade marriages.

About me: I am a writer. I'm a wife and a mother, too, but I am now, always have been, and always will be a writer. I have many interests and hobbies and things I study just for fun.
But when I cook, I burn things. When I crochet, it's crooked. When I garden, plants die.
When I write... I'm in my element.

Who I'd like to meet:
*******************************************************************
First and foremost, I'd love to meet anyone interested in my career as an author, especially if you are in a position to forward it in any way. YOU get first dibs on my attention.
But it's not in me to act entirely professional so I'd also be happy to hear from old friends and new ones, past loves and old enemies. (Always watch your back, right?) Family members scattered to the winds? Come on in. If you would enjoy fighting -- ahem, debating -- about politics, you are more than welcome as my folks have long since abandoned me on this topic.
I'd love to connect with any other Cherries from the Orchard, Heart of Carolina Romance Writers, general members of RWA, and any other writers of any genre. You might do your work alone, but networking is key for success!
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I received a gift of flying a plane for my last birthday and we are finally doing it this Friday. I'm very excited--I will surely post a blog about it. Sorry to hear you've been up all night. Hope what ever it is that kept you up has gone away by now. And don't worry about the !!!. Sometimes we just get a little giddy. Have a great week!!!
Hey, Miss Beki. I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Between my own health issues (found out I have hypothyroidism) and my cats (one of them has a tumor), and worrying about bills, etc. life has just been a little crazy. I've thought about you often, though and am happy for/proud of what you're doing with that new website of yours. It looks really good. I seriously want to start losing weight, I need to, in fact, so I think following along with you will help tremendously. I need to start writing again, too. Life has been sucking the creativity from my bones and I have to find a way to get it back. NaNoWriMo is in a couple months, maybe I'll use that as a start. Anyhow, enough about me, how the hell are you and your family?
I'm good. Healing from a tailbone and knee injury but otherwise, I'm good. Finished my first manuscript that I'm actually happy with and about halfway through the second. How are you?
Oh--I have sad roses, too, believe me :-). That's why I gradually replacing them with roses that do well for me. Every garden is different and after a while, you discover what works for you. You might try some of the Old Garden roses which are fairly hardy. They are a little harder to find, but worth it (I can say that after killing countless Hybrid Tea roses) :-) Good luck and don't give up! ---Amy
