Belfrie resides in Chicago, IL. and was officially formed in 2005.
Belfrie tries to infuse organic instrumentation alongside electronic music. There are femal vocal harmonies, string arrangements, guitar, electric bass, drums, and computer sequences that play alongside most of the songs.
The members are: Laura Watral (coupleskate, consafos, the race, bottledog), Tiffany Kowalski (Bright Eyes, MWard, Head of Femur, Shelly Short), Dave Osborn (Sharks and Seals, Consafos), Alance Ward (Sharks and Seals, Consafos, Azure Ray).
The songs always start off written as electronic sequences, after adding the live instruments, the songs are reworked from their original sequenced form. The songs seem to evolve from this process, working towards unexpected accidents. In the end, there is a drive for something that bridges the gap between organic and electronic.
Belfrie was an ongoing solo project for many years and the desire to make it into a full band happened in 2005. Laura met Dave and Alance while playing in Consafos and through touring. Tiffany was a longtime friend and fellow violinist.
