Carole King, J.P. Williams, Irene Williams, Joel Lindsey, Wayne Haun, Craig Monday, Sue Smith, Simon Hawkins, Kevin Stokes, Tony Wood, Allen Haynes, Rebecca Payne, Jim Brumley...wait, did you mean ONLY musical influences? I think I strayed from the original question...

I suppose the most accurate way to describe myself is that I write the songs that make a few people sing...here and there...upon occasion. With that being said, I’ve been very lucky and already have had more success than I would have been happy with. That doesn’t stop me, though. I have a deep love of good gospel music and I always will. I’m passionately pursuing country writing now, though, and it seems to be going well. Again, I rely on the generousity of those more talented than I, and they continue to amaze me. So, while Nashville continues to be kind to me, I’ll continue to play here and there and write a whole lot. And, hopefully, you’ll come out to a show and find something that you may want to sing along with...
In the meantime, here’s the ’official’ statement that you’d read about me in somewhere. I didn’t write it--feels too pretentious, but my brother thought I should put it up here:
Belinda Smith is a Dove Award Winning songwriter. She has been writing since 1997 when she moved to Nashville from West Virginia. Belinda has had multiple number 1 songs, most recently in 2007 with "Over and Over" by Jeff & Sheri Easter, and in 2004 and 2008 she was presented with a BMI Performance Award. Belinda has cuts by artists ranging from FFH to Gaither. Belinda has served on songwriting faculties across the country.
okay, i'll give you a reason to stay here...but i'm not giving it to you until next year...so, you'll have to stay here in order to one day learn the real reason why you should stay here... tony
is that why they call you the black widow co-writer of nashville?...i'm game to try to break the cycle, but maybe we should check with some of the still-living folks you know first, to see if they're willing to take the risk? :-)
how did i try to reach thee - let me count the ways: myspace, e-mail, smoke signals, pony express, message in a bottle, ouija board, banner across the (former) bellsouth towers, note on a cocktail napkin left at the tin roof, barbara cloyd's class of 2006 alumni quarterly classified ad booklet.... :-) u da rock star, girl!... tony
hey b, i've been there every month so far this year...put an apb out for you, but no luck :-) i'll be back soon - no dates set yet...i'll shoot you a note when i know and if you're free, we'll get in the book...how have you been? tony
hey b, hope all is well with you...i'm planning to be around march 16th through the 19th - be great to see you if you have any free time that week...drop me a note if you have a minute...thanks... tony
Great! I'm glad you liked it... I hadn't heard from you so I figured you HATED IT!!!!! I was devastated... sending a song to a Dove Award winning, perfectionist like yourself. But for real... I really like it. It's the only song I can ever remember my wife coming home to, stopping in her tracks and being like "whoa, what's that?" She loves it. Let's get another date on the books with JPizzle and we'll pick it apart and make it flawless!
