Who I'd like to meet: Carlisle Cullen changed Edward while he was dying in the Spanish influenza because of an indirect plea by Edward's birth mother. When Edward was changed he got the ability to read minds. Ten years after Edward was changed into a vampire, he rebelled against Carlisle's practice of drinking animal's blood, though he understood why Carlisle only fed on animals. Since he could read minds, he purposefully sought out and preyed on only the worst of society, which helped him justify his actions to himself. However, after a few years he became guiltly, realized that Carlisle was right, and returned home. He has not left since. In the beginning of Twilight Edward sees Bella on her first day of high school. Edward is fustracted that he cannnot read Bella's mind and in Biology he can't resist her blood. He even thinks about killing the entire class so he can drink her blood. Edward is fustrated that Bella can make him lose control he had for years. After a close call in the guidence office, Edward drives Charlisle's car all the way to Alaska. When Edward gets back he sees Bella almost get hit by a van. Edward uses his supernatural speed and abnormal strength to save Bella's life but by doing this Edward risks exposing his entire family. When Bella becomes suspicious Edward ends all contact with her for six weeks but he becomes tired of staying away from her. Bella and Edward become friends and sit together at lunch. When Bella learns Cullens are not allowed on the La Push reservation, she flirts with Jacob Black and he tells her about all the myths and legends of the land. Bella is horrified when she comes to the conclusion the Edward might be a vampire through Jacob's stories about the "cold ones". Edward is always fearful for Bella because he has to resist drinking her blood and the fact he could kill her without even trying. But Bella always ignores his warnings. When the family plays baseball in the woods, a non "vegetarian" vampire smells Bella. Edward learns the vampire, James, is planing to kill Bella and decides that all the Cullens should split up to confuse James. Alice and Jasper take Bella to a hotel in Phoenix, but it does not take long for James to learn where she is. James lures Bella by telling him he has her mother. Edward and the Cullens show up just in time and save her. Although James bites Bella, Edward is able to suck the venom back out. Bella spends a couple of weeks in the hospital in Phoenix, where Bella and Edward fight about her becoming a vampire. The book ends with Edward taking Bella to her prom despite a broken leg. In the beginning of New Moon, it is Bella's 18th birthday. She has a party at the Cullen house but she gets a papercut on some wrapping paper. The youngest, Jasper, is sent over the edge by the smell of her blood and goes to attack her but Edward pushes Bella out of the way and into a bunch of dishes. Bella slices her arm up because of the glass plates. Edward leaves Bella and Forks because his fear of putting her in danger came true. He convinces Bella he doesn't love her anymore, then leaves to go with his family to Alsaka. After Edward leaves he becomes depressed and he attempts to search for Victoria (Jame's mate). He recieves a phone call from Rosalie telling him Alice went back to Forks because Bella killed herself. Edward calls Bella's house pretending to be Carlisle, Jacob answers the phone and tells him Charlie is at the funeral (refering to Harry Clearwaters). Thinking Bella is dead, Edward goes to Volterra, Italy and asks the Volturi to kill him. When they refuse, Edward chooses to reveal himslef as a vampire which would lead to an immediate execution. Right before Edward steps into the light Bella saves him. The Volturi tell Edward, Bella and Alice they must change Bella or they will kill her. Alice uses her powers to show one of the elders, Aro, that Bella will become a vampire. Back in Forks the Cullens decide they will change Bella after she graduates but Edward says he will change her if they get married first. In the beginning of Eclipse, Edward suspects that a series of murders in Seattle are the result of new born vampires. When Alice sees Victoria coming after Bella, Edward decides it will be best if Bella goes to visit her mother in Florida and keeps the information about Victoria from Bella. When they get back Jacob confronts Edward for lying to Bella. They also talk about the treaty the Cullens broke by searching for Victoria on werewolf territory. Edward allows Bella to visit Jacob on La Push. During one of the visits, Jacobs admits his love for Bella and forcefully kisses her. When they get back Edward threatens to break Jacob's jaw if he touches Bella again. Edward admitts to Bella the reason he does not want to change her is because he thinks vampires are soulless creatures with no place in heaven. Edward tells Bella if he could change back to human for her, he would no matter what the price will be. Edward proposes to Bella again and Bella accepts under one condition, they make love while she is still human. Edward and Jacob work together a treaty in order for the werewolves and the Cullens to work together to fight the Victoria and the newborn vampires. Bella, Edward and Jacob set up camp in the middle of the clearing waiting for everyone. When Bella and Edward are talking about their marriage plans, Bella hears Jacob. Bella sends Edward out to find Jacob because she fears what he will do in his pain. After Jacob and Bella talk, Edward tells Bella it is okay she loves Jacob and understands her fustration. Edward kills Victoria during the battle. Bella agrees to let Alice plan her wedding and Edward agrees to make love to Bella while she is still human. Bella and Edward decide it is time to tell Charlie about thier engagment.Edward marries Bella early on during Breaking Dawn. On their honeymoon Bella learns she is pregnant. Edward tries everything to make Bella have an abortion out of fear the baby would kill her. Through great difficulties Renesmee Carlie Cullen was born.
