'Surprise support comes from Liverpudlian upstarts BELLS FOR RENÉ, who dance through a set of compelling and jeery garage melodies and techno twiddling. These youthful wonders wear their hearts firmly on their sleeves, and are startling, graceful and utterly exciting. They've already made mince meat of tonights headliners'
Tom Norton (Art Rocker)
'Crosswords by Bells for René, sure holds the quality of a track destined to be an anthem. The boys are sure on top form throwing in catchy guitar riffs mixed with the energy expected from one of their live shows.
This is the song that shows the character of Bells for Rene. The 'in your face' drum beat and the anarchical lyrics of a manipulated Carly Simons sent out to somebody 'You so vain, you write a song about it'.
It's not hard to imagine the reaction of a room of their energetic fans or first timers, jumping wildly around to the colourful indie-electro mash up and shouting the lyrics back.
This band are defiantly showing promise and having energy and reaction similar to bands such as The Arctic Monkeys and Operator Please, I can see them pasted all over next years sell-out festivals.'
Haltsmal Music Magazine
'A youthful looking indie band started up in the back room at Bumper with teenage fans working their way to the front. Self proclaimed “better than an elephant in a tumble dryer” Bells For Rene played a surprisingly phenomenal set knocking every other band of the night out for six. Their danceable indie-disco tunes really took the quality of the evening up a notch and had the venue captivated by their youth and such obvious talent. It is rare to get a band such of this being confident enough to chat to their audience, but these lads had no problem waxing tales of waking up with dog muck on coats and apologising for a previous show where they hadn’t played a certain song. With an evidently substation fan base already and with gigs at venues such as Manchester Academy under their belt this energetic band are ones to watch. Their catchy track “Silent Disco” is still in my head.'

THE DAILY POST:
Local boys Bells for Rene provide us with indie disco with powerful riffs, the odd synth arpeggio and plink, some nice 808 claps, a very strong lead vocal and some nice harmonies. Radio One's Huw Stevens likes these boys and you can see why. Catchy, and I would say the smallprint on the CD sums them up nicely - "somewhere between Arctic Monkeys and the Klaxons". I'd also throw in some Joy Division-esq guitar licks to boot. Floor-filler potential!
