Bel O Kan nait en 2001 avec un tout autre line up que maintenant, Lionel (batterie) trouve alors que Bel O Kan - le nom de la fourmilière du livre « Les Fourmis » de Bernard Werber – sonne bien dans ce monde de métal à voix féminine, comme si effectivement la voix lyrique de Maryline s’élevait au dessus des sons lourds et heavy des guitares (Eric et Khrys), basse (Denis) et claviers (Stéphane) aussi bien que la reine des fourmis surplombant sa fourmilière. Ant Symphonia fut enregistrée en auto-prod en 2003 et après quelques changements de line up (Maryline, remplacée par Kleim et départ de Stéphane) le groupe continue les concerts jusqu’au départ de Kleim quelques temps plus tard. Après quelques mois de Stand by sans chanteuse, le groupe accueille Sarah et enregistre Walkyria leur deuxième démo peu de temps après.
Après plusieurs concerts effectués à Lyon et aux alentours, Eric quitte le groupe. Remplacé par Alex, le groupe continue de composer, d’évoluer et d’enchainer les concerts au Lyon’s Hall, CCO (Villeurbanne), Double Six ou encore au Millenium et au Caveau (Anse). En octobre 2007, Bel O Kan retrouve son esprit symphonique avec l’arrivée de Nico aux claviers et Marion qui prends sa place aux chœurs. Fox prends ensuite la relève d’Alex à la guitare en mars 2008.
Nous sommes alors en novembre 2008 et Bel O Kan décide de passer à la vitesse supérieure et enregistre Birth Of A Queen leur 1er album, sorti en novembre 2009.
Lionel quitte son siège de batterie il y a quelques mois et Bruno s’y place alors, et en profite pour faire un maximum de bruit.
Le groupe est pour l’instant dans l’optique de faire le plus de concerts possibles pour défendre l’album et évoluer le plus possible…

Bel O Kan was born in 2001 with a completely different line up. At this periode, Lionel thought that Bel O Kan - ant hill name in the Bernard Werber’s book “ Les Fourmis “ - sounds great in the metal females voices scene, as if Maryline’s lyric voice rises above heavy guitars (Eric and Khrys), bass (Denis) and keyboards (Stéphane) sounds as the ant queen overhanging her ant hill. In 2003, Ant Symphonia was recorded in auto-production and after some line up changes (Maryline replaced by Kleim and Stephane departure), the band continued doing shows until Kleim departure. After a short break without singer, the band met Sarah and recorded Walkyria, the second Bel o Kan demo.
After several shows done in Lyon and all around, Eric left the band. Replaced by Alex, Bel o Kan did a lot of compositions and arrangments while still appearing on scene at the Lyon’s Hall, CCO (Villeurbanne), Double Six, Millenium and le Caveau (Anse). In october 2007, Bel o Kan found again his symphonic spirit with Nico arrival on keyboards and a new choir member Marion. Fox replaced Alex on rhythmic and lead guitars on march 2008.
At the end of 2008, more precisely in November, Bel o Kan thought it was the right time to move on and to record Birth Of A Queen, first album of the band, available since November 2009.
Lionel left drums just a few months ago and Bruno took his place very quickly, increasing the band power and doing a lot of noise.
At the moment, the band aims to do as many shows as possible in order to prove the new album value and to improve their skills.
