Beloved World Music Ensemble was founded in 1999 by Lua Hightower (voice, frame drums) and Dave Seidel (guitar) to perform traditional and original songs in the Sufi tradition. The group has worked with a number of friends and collaborators in several configurations, the most ambitious one featuring Humayun Farzad Khan (voice, harmonium), Cybele (voice, sarangi, tamboura), and Shankar (tablas). In this form, with the additional assistance of Fred Stubbs (ney) and Todd Roach (frame drum, doumbek), we recorded an eponymous CD in 2001. Beloved is currently on an extended hiatus. The CD has been out of print for a while now, and we have finally make it available online. We hope you enjoy it.
