yeah i sanded down an old kramer pacer. it took for ever just using a sanding sponge and so low grit paper , got the body painted a lime green , and now when the money is avalible, i am gonna add a couple seymor duncan humbuckers . and probably a banana headstock neck .
I just used laquer on mine since it they both are solid bodies. I think you made the right choice with what you are using. Allows the wood to breathe and probably helps a tad with sustain. Good job.
