Aggressive, angular and abrasive are a few words that can partly describe the unique sound of the southwestern noise-rock trio Below the Sound. Originally formed in 1999 in the high desert of Albuquerque New Mexico, the band consists of Dennis Ponozzo (bass & vocals) and brothers Chris Roy (guitar) and Brian Roy (drums).
Minimalistic while remaining powerful, Below the Sound creates tight and heavy off-kilter rhythms complimented by unrestrained dissonant guitars and raw fiery vocals to produce an intense and volatile sound reminiscent of their noisy post-punk predecessors of decades past.

Medes is the solo project of producer AJ Cookson. Known for his remix work under alter-ego Forma (tKatKa, Death From Above 1979, The Knife, Matthew Rozeik, Score One For Safety), and formerly as the frontman for the explosive band The Montauk Projekt (“…some kind of locked on noise-bastard two-piece” – Organ Magazine), AJ has been a regular contributor to 100m collective projects since the label’s inception and has collaborated with many of the collective’s acts. He now delivers this outstanding and long awaited debut solo collection.
