Beltim is a musical project initiated by the multi-instrumentalist
Marc-Albéric Lestage whose first album, entitled
L'échappée belle, was released in November 2008.
Beltim was born from a simple idea : to work on small snapshots that emphasize the melodies, without being afraid to use shortcuts. To ignore styles and trends, under cover of an intuitive orchestration...
Through an unlikely combination of instruments, L'échappée belle is the first expression of this musical journey in which we will obviously recognize some familiar resonances, but also the immodest desire to tickle curious ears of the world.
From strange moods to quiet atmospheres, and from nostalgic tunes to convoluted themes, here are the first steps of an unclassifiable music always ready to be tamed.
Marc-Albéric Lestage was born in 1976.
At the age of eight, he entered the Municipal Music School of Bourges successively to follow lessons in music theory and flute. During adolescence, attracted by rock music, he left his instrument in favor of bass, acoustic guitar and percussion. At that time, he started learning to play on stage and in studio with different bands.
In 1999 he became laureate Défi-Jeunes with the Claysheep group and published his first disc. Then, he moved to Paris and resumed studying the flute at Atla school. In 2003, he created Beltim, an atypical instrumental project, and afterwards spent one year in Brussels, where he composed the bulk of the future repertoire of Glitch, a duet formed with the hurdy-gurdy player Grégory Jolivet.
Back in France, he joined in 2005 the trio of singer Stéphane Branger for his show Connaissez-vous Mac-Nab ?...
