Walking the line between remorse and joy, Ben Birchall and the Corrections take cues from Elvis Costello, Dylan and the Kinks and make some beautiful, miserable pop tunes.
The Corrections kind of happened by accident. After the collapse of Birchall’s previous band Klinger, he tried to go solo, but was followed by former Klinger rhythm section Darren Vlah (drums) and Glenn Arnup (bass). They formed the core of the backing band on Birchall’s 2004 debut, Year of the Monkey, alongside Hovercrafts guitarist Dave McGann. After the recording was over, the guys stuck around, and were joined by Hammond player and all round good guy, Matt Vehl in late 2004.
Their debut album ’Last Ditch Brigade’ landed mid 2007 to enthusiastic reviews and rapturous crowds.
Fostered by Cavalier Records (The Rumours, The Hovercrafts, Crayon Fields etc), if anything they’re getting looser and bluesier in their old age. It’s an ok trip.

When will Wide Wide World be available? I'm really liking it... but I don't like having to come onine everytime I want to hear... Ah.. such a great song boys. I'm very very impressed...

Ben, I don't usually do this - but shit, why not? I've been on a recording binge and have four new songs on myspace - putting together a band, but would love to get some feedback if you can give them a listen.

Do you guys plan ALWAYS gigging when I'm working on purpose, or is it just an evil coincidence? Seriously, every single gig in Melbourne since May last year I've had to work. Can I put in a request for say a Sunday night? Or maybe a Tuesday night? Yes. :)
