    Ben is a saxophonist, acoustic guitarist, and vocalist from Baltimore, MD. He is a recent graduate of Oberlin College where he earned a B.A. in history with honors, and studied music with the Oberlin Conservatory Jazz Studies students and faculty. Ben took private lessons with Gary Bartz and also worked with other members of the Oberlin Jazz faculty including Wendell Logan, Robert Ferrazza, Peter Dominguez, Marcus Belgrave, Robin Eubanks, and Billy Hart. His previous music instruction includes studies with Chris Vidala, Greg Thompkins, John "Griz" Gifford, Robert Muncy, Al Maniscalco, Kyle Coughlin, Sean Twomey, and Adam Grimm. In high school, Ben was selected as the alternate alto saxophonist in the 2002-03 Maryland All-State Jazz Band. He enjoys playing many varieties of music including funk, blues, jazz, r&b, and more recently, folk music with his new acoustic guitar and vocal project. .. .. In Oberlin, Ben was a member of The Funk Band, The David Bowie Cover Band, and The Sauce -- an up-and-coming funk/r&b band in the Cleveland area. Notable performances in the Baltimore area include appearances with The Bridge, LaFayette Gilchrist, and Greg Thompkins. .. ..He is now a member of The Nerftones, an up-and-coming Funk/Jazz-Fusion group in Baltimore

..Ben has been working off-and-on as a cruise ship musician aboard the Holland America Line fleet, performing off the shores of Alaska, Mexico, Central and South America, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and the French Polynesian islands of the South Pacific (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea etc). He completed three successful contracts as the saxophonist in the party/show band aboard the MS Oosterdam, Statendam, and Rotterdam, and one more on the MS Rotterdam as the solo guitarist/singer. Ben is now performing in his hometown of Baltimore and playing gigs on the road.
