The musical battering ram Ben Carter hails from the Great Bay State, Massachusetts. He has been called the most charming cavalier musician in all existence, not to mention it’s been rumored he has a wide variety of super powers. Starting out playing small shows around New England it wasn’t superhero powers that got him a steadily increasing fan base and a growing roster of outrageously catchy original songs. (Or maybe it was. Actually, it definitely was.)

You’ve seen them everywhere; in bars, restaurants, street corners and subways: That guy with the acoustic guitar. They’re all the same. From their music down to the way they look. But what if there was someone who broke the mold? 23 year old Ben Carter broke it then lit it on fire so no one could tell it was ever the mold to begin with.
Hailing from Boston, MA Ben has spent the last few years building up a following with his personable unique songwriting and energetic live shows. He’s opened for Matt Nathanson, Virginia Coalition, Piebald and has played Festivals in the New England area.
Having taught himself guitar in high school Ben started to write songs and play shows in college at the University of Rhode Island. “Everything started to happen pretty naturally…I learned some chords so I wrote a song…I wrote a song so I showed some people…then after that someone asked me to play at this thing at the college I was attending at the time…and it started to happen more and more.”
It’s hard to place Ben in any one particular genre of music. His music ha a pop-sensibility with folk, country, alternative undertones….or you can say it’s just plain good. His favorite bands list from Phish to Motion City Soundtrack to Nickel Creek to Death Cab for Cutie making his taste in music as diverse as it can almost get. From the constant beat of the all too personal “This is Not About Mindi Hill” to 1950’s throw back “Anna” to the sexually charged “Off/On (the lean in)” it’s all just plain good.
“I really try to be as honest as I can when I write songs. It’s important to not hold back with what you want to say because if you do then why bother saying it? I think people can find a connection with what you’re saying when you do.”
To sum it all up Ben's not:/ That guy who has a band named after himself (the Ben Carter Band or Project or Movement) and keeps on trying to rewrite Daughters or Bubbly Toes with his acoustic guitar. He's not some sad emotional make up tight jean wearing emo guy. He's not some ironed hair, auto tuned, techno beat kid who throws up the peace/gang sign in every picture. He's not that super serious plaid shirt thick rimmed glasses indie rock guy.He doesn't like wearing Bright Neon Clothes and using 80's and 90's phrases all the time because he think it's cool to do.He's just Ben. He hopes you like his music, will have a drink with him and that We Are Friends.
