Bence Sarkadi - the 2008 winner of the Luk Vincent Award for Young Talent in Gent, Belgium, and the 2009 winner of the Maribor Puppet Festival Children’s Jury Award in Slovenia - is a puppeteer from Budapest, Hungary. He started working with marionettes in 1999. He began touring with his one-man puppet show in 2007, and has so far performed it in Hungary, Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Colombia, Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovenia and Spain. Next up: Australia.
The show, entitled FIGURA EX MACHINA, brings about a range of different marionettes in a cycle of short stories accompanied by music. The performance contains no words. The show is exceptional because the puppet constructor-performer uses an artistic language and a world of forms very characteristic of Central Europe, but creates something new with every puppet. FIGURA EX MACHINA, with an array of unique and inventive marionettes, is an event designed to entertain audiences of all age groups.
