Benjamin (b. 1996) started learning the harp when he was 4 years old. Most of his performances are for charitable concerts - so far he has taken part in over 175 events across the UK, from Teignmouth to Edinburgh, helping to raise over £125,000 for organisations including Amnesty International, Tsunami Earthquake Appeal, Cancer Research, Ty Hafen, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Velindre Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospice, Bobath, Teenage Cancer Trust Wales and The British Heart Foundation. In November 2008 Benjamin was invited to become an Ambassador for George Thomas Hospice Care.
Here in South Wales he has performed at St David’s Hall, CIA, Wales Millennium Centre, Wales Millennium Stadium, Norwegian Church Arts Centre, Liberty Stadium, Brangwyn Hall, Museum of Welsh Life, Celtic Manor Resort and Llandaff Cathedral. His largest audience being 74,500 at the Wales Millennium Stadium, for Children In Need, during a rugby international. He has shared the stage with Dennis O’Neil, Rebecca Evans, Beverley Humphries, Cor Godre’r Aran, Cardiff Ardwen Singers as well as the Dunvant, Morriston Phoenix & Caldicot Male Voice Choirs. He has worked with international harpists including Deborah Henson-Conant (USA), Andres Izmaylov (Russia), Ann Griffiths (Wales) and Catrin Finch (Wales).
Benjamin has made two TV programmes with the BBC - Take a Bow (2007) and Bobinogs (2008). Other appearances include performances at the 2005 - 2008 Urdd Eisteddfod, Carolau Llangollen, Noson Lawen and twice for The BBC Children in Need Appeal. Radio broadcasts include the Holocaust Memorial Event, Wales International Harp Festival and Catrin Finch’s BBC Radio 4 documentary Master Harper.
In September 2008 he won First Prize in the Junior Section (Under 16) of the Concours de harpe Lily Laskine, Paris - his prize was a Salvi Daphne Pedal Harp. Ben gave recitals at the 7th European Harp Symposium, (Cardiff, 2007) and the 10th World Harp Congress, (Amsterdam, 2008)
