Originally the musical side of We Sink Ships, Neil's art collaboration with photographer Heidi Kuisma, beneath us, the waves began in early 2009 as a side project before taking over entirely. Influenced by musicians as varied as Steve Reich and Krzysztof Penderecki to Iceland's Jónsi & Alex and Ólafur Arnalds, the music created by beneath us, the waves drifts haphazardly between ambient soundscapes and minimalist classical compositions.
