there are many great parts to this video but i would just like to point out the octave effect on his sax during the "chorus". I can imagine a middle aged woman saying enthusiastically "ooo its sounds like a trombone". Also thank you for the miles video, i thought it was lost forever. I will laugh for years to come.
I will type this comment as i am watching the video. Ok Al Jarreau is wearing a white suit and his mouth moves in the strangest motions when he sings. Kind of like a horse chewing at times. This is absolutely filthy. No uplifting modulations yet. "laughing and gay". This is obscene. Really loving the opening/closing sliding door theme that keeps coming back. I really am not sure why you have posted this to me. This is just kind of boring after a while. I imagine this is what your head sounds like when you are about to fall asleep mid afternoon on a warm day in a well-lit, mostly white room.
i'm sorry but "She said-Im not a girl you put on at a stand by I am a girl who demands that her love is amplified Switch in to overdrive-woh oh woh"
Absolute genius. The multiple metaphors in that passage alone proves that 'wired for sound' is an amazing lyrical work.
anyway, my next contribution
my favourite bit is at about 2.23... the phrase 'what about me' not sung as semiquavers but instead slightly back triplets... provocative!! but you know, thats our shannon... standing up for the little people...
it just struck me how much a certain person would love what we are doing right now. Actively listening to, searching out and sharing music we dislike and i daresay in many ways dont understand... I can feel my imagination expanding by the second as i listen to this kind of stuff, cant you??
holy shit i love the fact that you found that so much!
my favourite things about that are - the fact that once the main chick is married she can no longer sing... oh how i hearken for the good old days when women couldn't be married AND work....
- the fact that charlie mingus isn't on that trailer yet we're supposed to instantly recognise the beautiful sounds of 'johnny dankworth'
hey man, i'd love to c you at the spot on the 5th, its going to be a really huge gig, i've arranged a 4pce horn section (including tunes such as 'i wish' and 'move on up', but i wont say more...) it'd be really cool if you came down...
Man i just listened to lets get intimate, i think its taken till now to actually realize the HUGE amount of time and effort we both put in to create that beautiful beast. It was a pleasure to work, or should i say sing, with you. hahaha
