Hi, I'm Bengt Johansson, a Swedish songwriter and worshipleader. I´m married with Tonie and we have three girls and live in Stockholm.
I play alone or with my band (sometimes local bands) mostly in churches, at conferences and festivals in Sweden and Scandinavia. I also teach on the subject that has become the song of my heart: Worship.
In the mid 80´s I had a tuff time and decided to lay down my playing with different bands. I prayed to God for help and guidance and from that time he gave my life and creativity a new direction. I started to write simple songs of confidence and thankfulness to God, grown out of a deeper experience of his love and faithfulness. I also realized that it was ok to express this in my own guitar influenced musical style. In 1995 I quitted my job as a music teacher.
From 1996 to 99 I was working part time in a church as a music pastor besides my song writing and playing. In 2000 we moved from Örebro to Stockholm and since then I have been working fulltime as a musician and worship leader. Here in Stockholm we attend a EFK Church(evangelical free church of Sweden).
Music is such a great gift and it really has helped me to open up my heart for God. That´s why I think worship songs and music can be both the means and the goal in this perspective. Through music we can offer our hearts and lives to God. At the same time it can be a great tool in opening up our lives for his touch.
