It’s all about the songs!! Upbeat rock songs piled high with catchy hooks, bright vocal melodies, sing-a-long choruses, punchy drums and bass layered with guitars that are soaring and shimmering or driven, distorted and totally fuzzed-out!
Benjamins Way are a rocking four-piece outta Canberra whose members hail from as far away as Melbourne, Central and the Sunshine Coast.
The Band have supported several interstate and Canberra bands and regularly headline their own shows. They were also invited to play live on local radio showcasing their original music!
Currently recording their demo, the band will be hitting the road around NSW into spring and summer 2009 so keep an eye on their gigs as they will be playing a venue near you soon.
SO WHO ARE BENJAMINS WAY??
Julie Maynard – Vocals and Rhythm Guitar
Julie was singing and performing at the tender age of six, writing and performing her own shows. She received her first guitar on her 9th birthday and hasn’t stopped playing music since. She went to her first gig at age 14 and knew that this is what she wanted to do. Julie is predominately a self taught musician learning her craft by listening to all styles of music and playing with other musicians. She has played with a number of well known Canberra musicians in cover bands, with original singer-songwriters and bands.
Craig Lamberth – Lead Guitar and Vocals
Craig has been playing and writing songs for years, while Craig is mainly a guitarist he can also play other instruments. Craig completed over 4 years of music study at Goulburn TAFE and the Canberra CIT and learnt many song writing techniques and how to operate in the music industry. Craig has a passion for indie pop music with an edge and enjoys writing songs of this style.
Jack started playing bass guitar at the age of 16 when his musician friends introduced him to the instrument. Ever since then, he's developed a keen passion for not only the bass guitar, but music in general. Jack brings the driving grooves and a sense of funk to whatever style of music he plays. By listening to all different genres of music from techno to metal, he has learnt about composition and effective use of the bass guitar. Benjamins Way is the first band that Jack has ever been a part of and has put in countless hours with rehearsal, gigs and contribution into writing songs.
Michael Rogers - Drums
Having started playing drums at age 13 in different bands and projects, Michael has developed his own style over the years. Michael’s musical influences are predominantly RnB and funk which provides a contrast to the other member’s influences.
WHAT ABOUT OUR NAME?
Benjamins Way is a street name in Belconnen Canberra, Australia's capital. As the band rehearsed in Belconnen, they decided to name their band after the main street!
Thougth you'd want to know about a gig at ANU on Saturday 22nd August. The lineup is: ORIPHUS, ENTROPY WITHIN, UNHOLY VENDETTA and CHUD. THis will be an awesome gig!
