On an average freezing Dutch morning in late Winter of 2008, Benjamin Winter and 4 members of The Make Believe unloaded gear into a scattered old house by a river called Dufry Studios. Their engineer and friend, Rene found a musty, wooden, perfect spot in the small village of Koog Zaandijk just north of Amsterdam where he had more space and less noise. After coffee was on (priorities you know) the crew hunkered down into what would be home for the next 2 months and let themselves be absorbed by Benjamin's box of songs, each others ideas, and an intoxicating room full of acoustic instruments. Talented friends meandered in and out and layed down an amazing track here and there, and we watched the new full-length album "The Wind Blows Way Up High" come together. "We enjoyed a freedom and calmness in this record I have never had before". Says Benjamin of the process. "Actually I think in my 12 years of recording, it is the first time I actually really enjoyed it. I know that is a little sad, but making music is a never ending journey of learning, and I finally settled into the sprit I want to manifest on this album." That warmth comes through in their purest, most mature, and strongest release to date as Benjamin does again what he does best by delving into social commentary and the human condition in a more playful and folky setting.
Salut ! J'espere que tout va bien ! Voici quelques unes de mes dernières photos, toujours visibles sur ma page flickr, www.flickr.com/photos/germaindevos
sorry it took me so long to answer your friendship offer - of course! I feel glad to be (MySpace)friends. Thank you for your interest and your amazing music.
Even your profile image perfectly fits, as it's radiating the same spirit, at least in my perception.
Respect & care - too bad you don't play any nearer... Karen

------------------------------ Spring of Change
One thousand yellow daffodils A snowdrop by the lake Swallows swirl a forbidden dance Children play their game
Nature reinvents itself The sun sheds a skin A buzzing sound of change Fills up the air at night
Spring of change Spring of Love First learn how to swim Before you learn to fly Spring of change Spring of Love Life becomes so much lighter If you accept it has to die
The sweet ambrosia scent Of new Life is on our skin Soft melodies fall down slowly from the sky into the heart
A fox feeds her rascals As the nightingale awakes Someone shakes out a blanket To lie down on and make Love
Spring of change Spring of Love First learn how to swim Before you learn to fly Spring of change Spring of Love Life becomes so much lighter If you accept it has to die
Benjamin! Thanks for a great time at the Patronaat :) I love getting surprised with an excellent support act :D Hope to catch a show in September. Cheers! Anja
Thanks for the add. I hope you guys read your fan's messages, cause, after years of trying to ignore MySpace, I joined only to tell you I enjoy your music a lot, and I hope you'll keep going, and release some CDs soon. I saw you in Amsterdam along with Angus and Julia and you had me at the first song : )
