How to use this site: In theory this site is suppose to reflect my most current musical endeavors. In practice it's about a couple of weeks behind but the GIG LISTING IS ALWAYS UP TO DATE. Now that I have a computer this myspace thing should be easier. This information includes sound clips of bands I'm playing with as well as videos.
I'm Ben Kogan. I'm 24 year old Bass Player/Songwriter/Teacher. I also consider myself a multi-instrumentalist(guitar and piano). I graduated from the University of Miami in 2006 with a Jazz Bass Performance Degree. After school I lived in Boston for 2 years as a part of the vibrant boston music scene. Some of the bands include; The Big Idea, Santiago Treats, Colt Thompson Project, the DAM band, and Rachel Goodrich(miami, check out video clip below).
A couple of the bands I'm currently playing with are Modus Operendi(an funky afrobeat band) , Avi and Celia(a roots rock project) and The Coats. I also back up a few singer songwriters such as Dexter Scott. I'm finally full time in NYC!
Ashes Ashes is up there, featuring Ruben from Quintus. I'm also focusing my energy on getting my music into films and tv shows.
