Ofcourse, I am not a band by myself :) In participate or initiate some different projects and work closely together with the musicians from the Mendoza Dance Parti ( Patrick Kuschel, Theo Holsheimer, Greg Smith, Danny Kepel, Simon Gitsels, Frans Cornelissen, Linda Bloemhard). But also wit Job Chajes ( Amsterdam Klezmer Band), Mark Tuinstra ( Bernie's Lounge), Ceumar, Kokoura & Mousse Dramé and many other people I have forgotten to mention here.
Influences
I get inspiration from lots of styles like jazz, soul, worldmusic of any kind: acoustic orientated music is my preference though! Think in artists like Sly Stone, Cannonball Adderley, Ceumar, Mory Kante, Fela Kuti, Funkadelic, Rusty Bryant ....
Sounds Like
I love to listen many kinds of music. But people around me assure me my sound is a mixture between Maceo Parker and Rusty Bryant ( yeah, if you know him you know what he sounds like). I can create a very fullbodied lyrical sound but it also percussive & funky! I play blues, soul, funk and world inspired music. Love the JB's, Canonball Addreley, Kenny Garrett, Sly Stone, Ceumar, Novos Baianos, Fela Kuti, Funkadelic ....
I am a Amsterdam based saxplayer ( alto, tenor and some baritone). Bandleader of the Amsterdam based band Mendoza Dance Parti. I also play and compose with a great African Crossover Project 'Kokoura' from Burkina Faso / Senegal and will record a new album with the fantastic and wonderful Brazilian singer Ceumar.
