About me:
Hi, my name is BEN MURPHY and I'm an up-and-coming American Artist residing in upstate New York (Rochester). Art has always been a big part of my life, but it fell to the back burner until 2007 when I began focusing on my artwork again and releasing my images through Flickr.
My work is a blend of graphic design, mixed media, iconography, and cultural commentary. I often use pessimism and reverse psychology in my work; MY INTENT IS TO POKE FUN AT THE QUIRKY AND EMBEDDED WAYS IN WHICH WE AS INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETY SELL OURSELVES SHORT. My philosophy is that life is a wonderful opportunity to be grabbed by the horns, and I hope that my artwork forces you to question some of the underlying assumptions that limit the way you live your life.
