Benn DeMole is a composer, musician, vocalist, audio engineer and
producer based in Sydney, Australia, who periodically travels the world
finding inspiration in other cultures and localities. Since the late 1990s he
has produced five solo albums, in their entirety, from composing through to
designing the artwork.
In his compositions Benn samples, manipulates, programs and mixes sounds
from a variety of sources. These include location recordings/found sounds,
tenor saxophone, voice and didgeridoo, as well as other musical and non-
musical instruments that come to hand.
Returning to Sydney in 2006 from living in Buenos Aires, Benn started his
own record label, Um Records. The first releases of Um Records were
remastered versions of Benn’s 1998 Eyed Side and NonSilence & Beats
Under Heat CDR albums, the latter including an extra track (“Choymas”)
discovered half-finished in his hard disc archives of the same era.
Also in 2006 under Um Records, Benn composed and produced a
soundtrack, Music for The Foreign Installation, for the play of the same
name by physical theatre company Strings Attached (with whom Benn also
works as a deviser and physical performer).
In the same year, Benn began his collaboration with Christian Punch,
forming the band Assemblage Point. They have since had several releases,
touring Japan, Europe and North America during 2009.
Benn’s creative involvement with both Strings Attached and Assemblage
Point shifted the focus away from his solo work. Back in the studio in 2009,
Benn put the final touches on his next solo albums: Ciudades Del Alma
(Cities of the Soul) and NonSilence & Beats Under Heat Vol.2.
Benn DeMole es un compositor, músico, vocalista, ingeniero de audio y productor basado en Sidney, Australia. A menudo, Benn decide viajar alrededor del mundo, explorando otras culturas y localidades que le sirven como fuente de inspiración.
Desde finales de los años 90, Benn ha producido un total de 5 álbumes por sí solo, encargándose así, de llevar a cabo cada paso de la producción; desde la composición hasta el diseño final de la carátula.
En sus composiciones Benn muestrea, manipula, programa y mezcla sonidos provenientes de una gran variedad de fuentes musicales. Entre dichas fuentes se hallan: sonidos “in situ” con los que Benn se ha topado por su paso, el saxofón, la voz y el didgeridoo; además de otros instrumentos que han intervenido en su camino.
Después de haber residido en Buenos Aires, Benn regresa a Sidney en el año 2006 cuando decide iniciar su propio sello disquero, y así nace Um Records.
Um Records comienza su carrera con las versiones remasterizadas de los álbumes “Eyed Side” y “NonSilence & Beats Under Heat”, este último con la añadición de una nueva pista llamada (“Choymas”), la cual Benn re-descubrió a medio terminar en los antiguos archivos de su disco duro.
