Influences
the poetic artist in me believes my influences are: sounds of emotion in the beat, dark clouds, sun rays bouncing off of shiny faces of ignored and displaced school children, the need for change, dope beats and hot lyrics, emcees with a vocabulary, adventures in suburbia, culture, poverty, middle class syndrome, white collar crime, love, dew drops on country green grass, sex on rainy days, skyscrapers, city life, truth, justice, and the pursuit of happiness
****************************************************************
the raw music love that I possess is influenced by KRS 1, Rakim, Nas, Jay Z, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Talib Kweli, Hezakiah, Digable Planets, Ursula Rucker, BlackThought, Black Milk, Mahalia Jackson, The Beatles, Hall & Oates, the 60's - 70's (man that sound is amazing, very naked and beautiful)Vivaldi, just to name a few... Keep listening and you'll hear much more than I could ever write for a bio...
Sounds Like
the evolution of a demented mind. the hope of a brighter tomorrow. the contradiction of the human thought process. good music.
Benni E is a queer afro panamanian artist who believes strongly in the power of music. From long nights of writing to late night shows, she continues to be steadfast and determined to harness the power of her craft. Her upcoming album "The Oz Children" is an extension of her soul. Believing that technology and war is the way that humans now evolve and that the need to dance to exhaust the negative energy of human plight is the current way of release. She has cornered a small portion of her chaotic mind into well thought out rhymes and heart stirring emotion to explain her viewpoint and to make the listener rethink what they believe about life.
Currently she is working on projects with The NauQad Project, Decibel Live, Shunda K, and others. Excited to be an emcee in this era of hip hop, she feels she has the chance to bring a style that is not comparable to other emcees, but instead compliments the old style and new emerging talents.
Benni E has brought you one of the hottest mixtapes in Philly song titled Microphone Influenza. You will be soon graced with her 2nd project From Sneakuhs to Speakuhs.
This amazing emcee maintains her relationship with the community and struggle through music, providing community based services for youth through music and visual art. Her music contains her vision of a brighter tomorrow through street/block electro, pop culture references, and real hip hop.
You can find this talented young lady in the throes of the queer music scene in her hometown and nationally supporting other musicians and poets. She has been blessed with the opportunity to perform and collaborate with amazing people and feels great about what the future holds for all of us as people.
