Benza has been making groundbreaking electronic music since 1997. His background in Jazz, Funk, R&B and Rock music have enabled him a unique sound, maintaining critical elements of melody and form, while providing ultra-butt-shaking grooves. His debut self-titled album, released on Demon Tea Recordings in 2003, was met with worldwide critical acclaim, touted as "proper psychedelia with everything you ever needed to fly." (DJ Times Magazine)
The first album, coupled with explosive live sets seen through Europe, Japan, the US South America and Russia have truly established Benza on the world's electronic scene. His second album, Retrofuturism (Sonic Dragon Records), drew on the strengths of the first and pushed new sonic horizons. A renewed focus on groove and structure allowed this record the space to explore the depth and width inherent in his production, whilst keeping time for the ebbs and flows that ensured dance-floor appreciation all over the world.
Further touring and enhanced studio time has seen a shift of focus towards the phatter and the phunkier. Benza's sound has morphed again. A psychedelic embrace of the new waves of Electro and Tech-House pervade a deep and wide groove in an organic and musical dance floor sound.
"Schwarze Now, The Defender" - Benza's long awaited 3rd album is on shelves now and is being widely viewed as a very significant work in electronica.
"An early contender for album of the year... The quality and vision on this album are incredible... 10/10" (psyreviews.com)
