Bequi 的自我介紹 |
關於我：
I'm an odd duck known as Bequi to the people that matter. I draw stuff, write, paint, sculpt, cook like a fiend (in a good way), bake, and among the other things I didn't mention dance in my living room like a complete moron.
I self publish several of my own comic books with my newest title being a kid friendly book called PEEP LITE. PEEP LITE joins the ranks of my other books AEGIS, VENDETTA, and SAM. My books range from super cute and fun (PEEP LITE), to silly and insane (SAM), to wicked and mean (VENDETTA), to my pride and joy superhero book (AEGIS) which is currently undergoing one grand daddy of an overhaul. I read lots of different kinds of comics (super hero to manga and all stuff inbetween) and like to draw whatever suits my mood at the time. Therefore I like to cycle through my comic book arsenal to keep the comics interesting for me- that and I'm the only one drawing them so who else is gonna do it?
My hubby Matt Wendt and I collaborate on lots of stuff, mostly comics. Together we are Planet Doom Studios with my comics rubbing shoulders with his little army of self published comics. Yeah, he's a creator, artist, writer, and inker of his own line of comics too. He's been doing lots of freelance stuff lately, but his titles are PEEP (the not-for-kids-comic), GREAT BIG PISSED OFF BEAR (also not for kiddies), BABY NINJAS (again not for kids), and THE VOID (still not for kids). Let's face it, ALL of Matt's books aren't for kids, but that's what makes them so damn funny! But since the two of us are so much on the same page (which I can't stress enough is the coolest thing EVER!), that makes deadlines a little easier to make. I function as Matt's inker (in a pinch), colorist, letterer, layout person, and both of our "make sure it gets to the printer on time" person. I do all that stuff and the art for my books, but Matt's learning to color and will soon be learning an intensive lettering crash course (mwa ha ha!) to help me out more. So we're a great team and I think our newest books have only illustrated that. Yeah we may not get books out as often as some other indy artists, but I think the quality of our finished books is ultimately more important to us. Once your book is in print it's kind of a snapshot to how good you were at that instant. And will both Matt and I we're always striving to get even better with each issue, and with each new technological technique we learn. What's the point in self publishing comics if you don't show your readers and fans that you grow with each new issue?
Anyways, what else can I say about moi? Hmmm.... My really close friends know that my favorite letter of all is capital E. I love anime and manga. As for buying comics and manga, I gotta admit (and I'm sure some fan boys will get their oversized panties in a twist over this) I buy for the ART. If the art rocks I buy it, if it sucks I don't touch it. For me the writing is so secondary, that it's a pleasant surprise when the story lives up to the art. I'm an ARTIST people, I buy what I know is good. That's what matters to me. And believe me, I've actually had arguments with people on this subject. What they failed to grasp was this is MY OPINION not theirs. End of discussion.
I absolutely LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE great music! There's nothing better than blaring that song that gets you pumped as loud as your ears or speakers can take it! Great music makes me feel so alive, that it's a neccessity to have music playing when I'm in the midst of drawing a really great scene in one of my books. A single song can spark an entire storyline for me, especially for my AEGIS kids (they're not kids they're college students, but to me they're my kids). I love brainstorming fight scenes to anything from Marilyn Manson, to Hate Department (and bravo if you've heard of them), to the Prodigy (as in the techno/dance band not that lame ass rapper), to Kill Hannah, to Insoc (or for everybody else not a true fan- Information Society), to My Chemical Romance, to AFI, to AC/DC, to the Used, to many many more artists that are in my great big collection of great music (again in my opinion).
What else I really like are people with great (mostly wicked) senses of humor. That's definitely a great big reason I fell in love with Matt. I love people who are comfortable enough with theirselves to say what's on their mind, no matter if it is mean or way un-PC. My favorite comedians are Henry Rollins (his spoken word stuff rocks!), Carlos Mencia (I actually got in trouble over him once), and Dennis Leary.
Well, there's a lot more to know about me, but why would I tell you everything all in one sitting? It leaves nothing for another go at getting to know the Bequi.

I'd love to meet Henry Rollins 'cos he's so rockin' cool! Hmmm... who else? The persons who thought up Pixie sticks and Jolt soda, Bruce Campbell, Michelle Yeoh, CLAMP, the (english) voice actor that played Ichigo on Bleach and Vash the Stampede on Trigun, Megumi Hayashibara, Glen Keane, and my doppleganger.
