Uncle Sallys meint: CHARLIE‘S CHOICE CHARLIE‘S CHOICE Bei Ska, besonders wenn er aus Berlin kommt, erwarten wir eigentlich eine knarzige Platte voller Hauptstadtattitüde, eben typischen Partysound, der uns rauchige Spelunken und salzige T-Shirts riechen lässt. Charlie‘s Choice haben diese Konvention umgangen oder besser: um Deutsch-Pop erweitert. Schwitzende Urbanität trifft sich hier mit der Sterilität von Rosenstolz. Klingt klinisch, funktioniert aber. Was sicher auch an der Sängerin Maria liegt, die mit ihrer untypisch glockenhellen Chansonnier-Stimme einen Kontrapunkt setzt, der die Band vom Einheitsbrei abhebt. "Das ist kitschig!" singt Maria auf der Scheibe. Recht hat sie. Dennoch wirkt der Erstschlag des Achters dadurch erst eigenständig.
