Bernie Nelson's songs have sold over 24 million records, having mulitiple platinum sales on Randy Travis, Wynonna, Conway Twitty, Colin Raye, Ricky Van Shelton, Chris Ledoux, and Conferate Railroad among others.
In 2002 Bernie acheived Million Airplay status on his Number 1 hit, "Daddy Never Was The Cadillac Kind." As well, he's had cuts on artists such as Pam Tillis, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Anderson, Kenny Chesney and Trace Adkins. Bernie has received both ASCAP and NSAI awards. During his 22 plus years in Nashville, he's written with everyone from Garth Brooks to Duane Eddy. He also has the rare distinction of having a Kris Krisofferson cut on the Randy Travis CD "Heroes and Friends."
Shortly after the the tragic death of Dale Earnhardt, he wrote and recorded a tribute song, "The Ride," for Relentless Nashville that earned him heavy praise from the likes of NASCAR veterans such as Darryl Waltrip and many others. All true Dale Earnhardt fans will find it a must have once they've heard it.
For you "Dukes of Hazzard" fans, check out "The First Time I Saw You" written with Duke star Tom Wopat.
If for no other reason, get this Multi- Award and Platinum winning singer/songwriter's CD just so you can have a copy of "Slow Train Home," an amazing tribute to soldiers and anyone fighting any kind of battle. He recorded this powerful track with his co-writer and good friend Dave Gibson of Gibson/Miller fame.
Bernie reflects, "The late great George McCorkle (Fire On The Mountain) once told me, 'If you're in this thing for the money, you'll surely wind up broke and unhappy.' George was right: I've had so many great moments in this life through music that money could never buy."
Look for Bernie's vocal on the new ads for Diamond Gusset Jeans, running on most syndicated radio shows such as "The G. Gordon Liddy Show" and "The Phil Valentine Show." Or if you go to Gusset.com you can hear Bernie sing the jingle there!
Bernie sang The National Anthem at the season opener for Middle Tennessee State University on August 28th 2008.
