German musician Bernward Koch has experienced a most astonishing rise within the international instrumental music scene over the last decade.
Koch’s fame began to ascend when the artist (among greats such Sting, Bonie Riatt, Dave Grusin, Al Jarreau, Ottmar Liebert and Dave Stewart) contributed a track for two Aids-benefit compilations initiated by California radio stations KKSF and THE WAVE and have achieved top positions on US-Billboard’s New Age Chart. Today Bernward Koch is considered by many as among the genre’s leading artists.
No one who knows Koch’s music is surprised by his success. The classically trained artist composes pieces of outstanding formal maturity and with an astonishing musical finesse. Koch himself calls his piano based compositions „songs without lyrics“, and indeed they are delicately crafted and clearly show their creator’s sense of form in his discernible tuneful signature.
His arrangements are always marked by a tasteful balance of natural and electronic sounds. The most instruments (piano, keyboards, bass, guitar, percussion) plays himself, mixed with percussionist and guitar player Bernward’s brother Christoph; and the exquisite flute playing of his wife Christiane Boehm has over the years become a trademark feature in his sound.
The music of Bernward Koch unfolds a soothing and seductive charm and with his most recent release „GENTLE SPIRIT" (2009 Real Music, USA) listeners around the world will once again be under its spell!
Bernward Koch Albums in order of release: FLOWING; LAGUNA DE LA VERA; STILL MAGIC; PICANTE; JOURNEY TO THE HEART; WALKING THROUGH CLOUDS; MONTAGNOLA; GENTLE SPIRIT

Dear Bernward, how are you?! I am still recovering from my shoulder surgery and it has been 3.5 weeks and I am doing well. The physical therapy for rehabilitating my muscles and range of motion is nearly as painful as the surgery! But, I am strong willed (my German blood!) and I persevere. My range of motion is now 134 degrees and I need to be 180 by end of 6-8 weeks. I hope I can do it. Big hugs to you and the family. Keep me in your prayers for full recovery, thanks! xoxo :)
