   About Bertram Lehmann
Based in Boston for almost two decades, Bertram Lehmann's supple and fluid style of drumming has made him a sought-after player within a multitude of musical contexts in the region and beyond, performing Jazz, Latin and World music.

In addition to his appearances in the U.S. with acclaimed artists such as Paquito D'Rivera, Randy Brecker, Romero Lubambo, Danilo Perez, Claudio Roditi, Oscar Castro-Neves, Eddie Gomez, Kenny Werner, or Dave Samuels' Caribbean Jazz Project, he has toured internationally in Russia, India, Bermuda, South Korea, Ecuador, Ghana, Mexico, Turkey, Spain, Israel, and Germany. Some of the distinguished stages Bertram has performed on include Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Joe's Pub, Columbia University, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and The Jazz Gallery in New York City; Boston Symphony Hall, the Boston Globe Jazzfestival, Scullers, The Regattabar, MIT, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; and many other venues elsewhere, such as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, 'Jazz Yatra' Festival (Bombay), the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Moscow), 'Panafest' (Accra), Chicago Worldmusic Festival, Kumho Art Hall (Seoul), Istanbul Jazz Center, 'Savannah On Stage' Festival, the University of Texas at Austin, Kennedy Center (Washington, D.C.), Oberlin College, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

In the New England Region, Bertram Lehmann is widely known for his association with artists such as Grammy-nominated Brazilian vocalist/composer Luciana Souza, Latin ensemble Mango Blue, Indo-Jazz band Natraj, vocalist Rebecca Parris, the Mili Bermejo Quintet, Cuban pianists Tony Perez and Osmany Paredes, and Argentine vocalist Katie Viqueria. He is an Assistant Professor in the Percussion and Ear Training departments at Berklee College of Music, and also teaches at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Additionally, he has given clinics/workshops at the University of Bremen (Germany), Fundacio L'Aula de Musica (Barcelona), Longy School of Music, Harvard University, University of Massachusetts Boston, Wellesley College, the University of New Hampshire, Moscow Conservatory, at Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts and Keimyung University in South Korea, and the 'Centro Cultural' in Quito, Ecuador.

Recent CD recordings feature Bertram Lehmann on drums with Mango Blues ('Immigrant Blues'), Dave Fiuczynski ('Kif Express'), Crosscurrent ('The Island', 'Crosscurrent', 'By the Sea', 'Rituals'), Natraj ('Deccan Dance' ,'Song of the Swan'), Mili Bermejo Quintet ('De Tierra'), Mark Shilansky ('Other Voices', 'Join the Club'), Katie Viqueira ('El Otro Lado', 'Amores Torcidos'), Michelle Mailhot ('Happy Madness'), Felipe Salles ('Mind Motions', 'South American Suite', 'Timelines'), The Boston Musical Theater ('Live in Moscow'), the Klaus Spencker Quartet ('Somewhere In America') and, as hand percussionist, Dunya's 'Lale ve Kiliç/The Tulip and the Sword', on Jimmy Haslip's 'Red Heat', Mili Bermejo's 'A Time for Love', Mark Shilansky's 'Different Songs', and Peter Janson's ''Beautiful Day' and 'Sometimes from Here', as well as the 'Herb Pomeroy Tribute Concert', a live-recording featuring jazzgreats Joe Zawinul, Gary Burton, John Abercrombie, among others. He has appeared on over 65 public television stations nationwide with Mango Blues as part of the WGBH-produced program "La Plaza", as well as on the soundtrack to the PBS mini-series "Race: The Power of an Illusion."
