beryl gedalya: classical and electric violins, theremin, mountain dulcimer, vocals, acoustic and sampled percussion, software and hardware synthesizers. I composed, arranged, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered the project. In addition, I designed and created the CD cover art.
Bioluminescence, my first solo recording, has finally arrived. - Bioluminescence usually refers to the production and emission of light by a living organism (such as a firefly and certain sea creatures) as the result of a chemical reaction during which chemical energy is converted to light. I'm using Bioluminescence as a metaphor for all the positive energy that I've found inside myself at a time when I really needed it. I've chosen to direct this energy towards myself, my friends, my community and my environment. - I will donate 10% of the after tax profit to both the SIERRA CLUB and OPEN HAND of Atlanta, GA. - Bioluminescence was recorded and mixed at my house and at Turner Studios, Atlanta GA and mastered at Turner Studios - The Mirror was performed on my mother's 1937 John Juzek violin. Thanks, mom, for all the years of musical guidance! - In dedication to my late father, this recording debuts on his birthday. I miss you dad. - Very special thanks to Turner Studios for the parts of the recording produced there. Special thanks to Eric Braverman for assisting in the photo shoot. - berylgedalya@bellsouth.net - I hope you enjoy Bioluminescence!
