ARE YOU (or somebody you know) ... a female with drawing skills who wants to embark on a serious tattooing apprenticeship?
We have an upcoming weekend artist vacancy here at Johnson Tattoo, and want to keep the genders as balanced as possible.
NOTES:
Drawing skills are the first priority. A traditional apprenticeship would focus primarily on drawing and the more mundane aspects of the trade for up to a year before you put actual needle to skin. This is not some cheesy "tattoo school" you attend for a couple of months before being given a fancy-looking certificate that proves your supposed worth.
Attitude and personality are crucial! We have a pretty low-key operation going, and our clients appreciate that in us. We try to function with as little drama as possible, and to appeal to the widest possible client demographic. Being level-headed and a "people person" go a long way. This is a working-class shop with a broad spectrum of clients of all shapes, colors, creeds and dispostions.
You have to be a self-starter and willing to struggle at first while you build your client base. It doesn't happen overnight - it takes a couple of years to develop enough of a client base to make a living. You have to be tough enough to endure this reality and to stick with it, anyway.
What we offer is an apprenticeship (free of charge) into what can be a lifelong career for the right person. In exchange, we would expect some loyalty to stick around and not jump ship at the first outside opportunity that presents itself.
The ball is in your court. Get your sketchbooks and portfolio together and show us you can draw. Then contact Roscoe or Tony through MySpace or the shop number (Wed. - Sun. 1pm - 9pm).
