Best Laid Plans is London's much loved alternative party featuring the hottest alternative bands and electronic beats. Born in Brixton in 06, Best Laid Plans has proved itself to be one of the most forward thinking alternative club nights in London, serving up fresh line-ups to music loving, party crowds at the capitals best venues with a great rep for feturing bands long before they break with The XX, Dan Le Sac, Chew Lips and many more all playing their very first gigs at BLP.

Along the way BLP has thrown parties everywhere from bowling alley’s to 2000 capacity raves taking on high profile resedenceis at Proud Galleries, 93 Feet East, Brixton Windmill and Jamm along the way. Our ethos is to showcase the hottest new acts/DJs around whilst putting more effort than most into making the night a real memorable event, with everything from VJ battles to short film screenings featuring.

BLP has had featured articles in The Guardian's Guide (making club of the week), received Time Out recommendations, featured in The Metro and London Lite (named as one of London's top promoters), and featured on-air on Radio 1 (Steve Lamacq), and XFM (John Kennedy/Marsha).

Leaving the hats and haircuts of Hoxton behind, BLP returns south of the river to our favorite little indie venue in London, The Windmill, Brixton, for a Best Laid Plans bank holiday takeover with an exclusive UK appearance from The Whigs, who are flying in specially for this intimate performance ahead of their Hype Park main stage appearance with their biggest fans, Kings of Leon. Supporting we have the usual mix of buzz bands with a performance from aussie electro due Civil Civic (getting lots of love from NME), alongside hip up-and-coming east London types, Cold In Berlin. On top of this we’ll off course be setting up the decks stage side and have DJs spin an eclectic BLP mix of everything from abrasive indie and beats to motown and electronica. We’ll stay open as long as can stay on your feet, should be a corker!

U.S. garage rock sensations The Whigs (from Athens, GA) have been wowing audiences across the U.S for some time now, releasing a string of enthralling singles (including Like a Vibration, Kill Me Carolyne, Right Hand On My Heart) and have picked up high profile fans including Kings of Leon along the way - who cherry picked the band to tour alongside them both in their native U.S and abroad. They’ve played the prestigious Late Show with David Letterman (twice), been critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone magazine, and are signed to the impressive U.S. indie label ATO Records, home to Radiohead, My Morning Jacket among others.

Despite many regarding them as one of the most exciting bands on the scene today, they’ve played few shows in Europe. Now, with their latest release ‘In The Dark’ we’re thrilled that they’re coming over to the UK for a rare, intimate appearance at Best Laid Plans ahead of their main stage slot with Kings of Leon in Hyde Park. This will be their first London date in 2 years. Don’t miss it!

Aussie electro due Civil Civic unleashed their début single 'Less Unless' in the early months of 2010, it triggered a tsunami that swept the blogoshpere. Mixing jaggedly progressive post-punk guitar, jamming melodic fuzz bass and pummelling drum machine beats, delivered in a no-frills lo-fi-pop package, this Australian duo (via London and Barcelona) have tapped their own original sound... original enough to leave reviewers short of any comparisons, and resorting to getting really excited.

Cold In Berlin inhabit that driving New York No Wave inspired sound – thrashing guitars, pounding drums and rumbling bass coupled with urgently delivered vocals. They attack their instruments as though their lives depended on it. A structured, apocalyptic and precise sonic destruction!
