Best Laid Plans is London's eclectic alternative party. Born in Brixton in 06 out of a boredom of the formulaic clubbing scene, BLP has proved itself to be one of the most forward thinking and diverse club events in London, bringing together the very best up-and-coming bands alongside our favourite DJ names. BLP has featured at several major London venues including Proud Galleries, Astoria II, 93 Feet East, Brixton Jamm among others. With 'Best Laid Plans DJs' regularly tearing up other clubs across the capital from everywhere from the Lock Tavern to Koko.
Our summer parties last year at Proud Galleries became legendary in clubland with hundreds of people regularly attending our unique all dayers to rave reviews from the media and featuring everything from Bands & DJs to exclusive Short Film screenings, VJ battles and various randomness.
BLP has had featured articles in The Guardian's Guide (making club of the week), London Lite (named one of London's top promoters), received Time Out recommendations, featured in The Metro and name checked on-air on both Radio 1 (Steve Lamacq), and XFM (John Kennedy/Marsha).

NATHAN FAKE *live*
*Early hours set* The new harder-edged Nathan Fake sound may seem like a rather dramatic departure to fans who know him only for the treasure trove of synth-rock gems of his 2006 debut album 'Drowning In A Sea Of Love' (and preceding psychedelic epic single 'The Sky Was Pink' - prior to that infamous radical dancefloor makeover care of main fan James Holden, of course!).
But the evolution of Nathan's sound has been a smooth and natural process for him, gradually beefing up various album tracks to complement his emerging new material and thus enabling the logical swift side-step back into the techno clubs where he first made his name. Fans of Fake's earliest releases meanwhile - like the Boards-of-Canada-do-techno of debut single 'Outhouse', the thumping man's music of the 'Watlington St EP' (Saw), or the wide-ranging melodic intensity of his 'Dinamo EP' (Traum) – would do well to note that Fake's recent decision to resume his shirts-off exertions is underscored with the firm intention of pushing the European techno blueprint ever forward. Normal service has not so much been resumed, but rather infused with an increasingly musically ambitious cerebral edge and furnished with a reactive response loop mechanism that leaves it even more optimised for maximum dancefloor impact than before.
PLUGS*live*
Plugs started life as a side project for former Does It Offend You, Yeah? member Morgan Quaintance, who having found growing success, quit the band to concentrate on the project full time.
Their debut single, That Number, released earlier this year and was obviously designed for clubs, with acid squiggles, Afrobeat tinges and playful arrangements it brimmed with ideas and hooks. It fast became loved by critics and upon release it made Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World and Single of the Week everywhere from Radio 2 to 6 Music. Their latest release, the Imaginary Friend EP features an array of twinkly and terrorising synth sounds, reverberating electro-basslines, indie hooks and shimmering keyboards that are begging to be compared to the work of the late, great Larry Levan, who at the height of his powers in the early 80s could turn a regular 12-inch dance cut into a hall of mirrors..
Above all Plugs bring allot of fun and some strange sounds to the dancefloor the likes of which have probably never been seen at Fire before. With the hype machine in full swing and support from the likes of RADIO 1, NME and MTV, their full live band experience is not to be missed..
FUTURECOP!*live*
British duo Futurecop! consists of Manzur Iqbal and Peter Carrol (both aged 26). The pair met at University and have remained friends ever since, sharing a passion for 80’s pop culture which has evolved into Futurecop!
Recently things have started to progress rapidly for the band, they have signed with Southern Fried Records for the world ex USA and Canada where they signed to the uber trendy iHEARTCOMIX record label. As well as numerous bookings for live performances and DJ sets as well as a 35 date tour across America. Their EP, ‘The Unicorn & the Lost City of Alvograth’ is due to be released at the beginning of 2009, with the duo have beginning work on several high profile collaborations. Peter adds ’Myspace has been brilliant for us too, it shows that all you need is a cool idea and good tunes to get yourself noticed’. They have performed in LA, Germany, Austria, France, Ireland and an Australia Tour with numerous gigs at the best venues across the UK. On there huge upcoming USA and Canada tour Peter says 'We are a little overwhelmed by what is happening around us, we have had so much interest since it was announced and we cant wait to play to everyone there’.
Do they have any final thoughts on the future? Manzur concludes that "We're just trying to keep having fun, it's a bonus that the music is appreciated, and as long as the enjoyment is there for us we will keep doing it"
DAVID E. SUGAR*live*
Regarded by his peers as being one of the most influential producer and song writer's of recent years, David Sugar has firmly cemented himself in the dance music scene. With support form radio presenters such as Zane Lowe, Jon Hillcock, Rob Da Bank, Kissy Sellout, Joe Ransom and Dj's such as Jesse Rose, Hotchip, Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), Sinden and Hervé. As well as releasing tracks on Grecco Roman and Kitsuné it a surprise he hasn't been snapped up yet.
2009 sees David launch his label – Oblio…. With an amazing 52 tracks in 52 weeks, that’s 1 track per week digitally, 1 vinyl EP release per month with original sleeve artwork (4 digital releases) including invitation to the following monthly Oblio/ David Sugar party. This amounts to end of year album release on compact disc.
2009 has also brought David his own weekly radio show on Ministry of Sound Radio, broadcast exclusively across the globe each and every Thursday from 7 to 8pm GMT. Expect 60 minutes of audio pleasure from cutting edge electronica to influential classics. For all of those that have been eagerly awaiting new David E. Sugar material, 2009 is sure to satisfy.
DASETTE JUNIOR*live*
Without doubt Dansette Junior are two of London’s hottest boys right now, armed with synths and a cross between Damon Albarn and Calvin Harris style vocals (seriously). 'Drums and Bass' is fast becoming a clut classic with hypnotic comedy lyrics. Fresh on the scene and already creating a buzz, picking up Radio 1 airplay along the way, they make by mix analogue synths with computer geekery to create a unique blend of edgy electro pop
VINCENT OLIVER (LOAF)
Well respected Loaf records DJ/producer/remixer Vincent Oliver started his musical career whilst still at college sampling single guitar blasts from his favourite bands and turning it into something far removed. Whilst at university he recorded the songs that became his first EP, and having heard some of his songs Jon Tye sent him an e-mail telling him that Lo would like to release him on the day of his graduation.
Since then he has been touring Europe and Japan, releasing records and remixing the likes of Sportsday Megaphone, The Chap, as well as head man Nathan Fake, often performing specially commissioned graphic pieces that he has made to accompany his music.
