Hilary Duff arrived on the scene in 2001 in the hit Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire. Quickly, she gained a following and she was known as the Tween Queen. In 2003, Duff took the journey to music with her debut album Metamorphosis. The album debuted at #2on the Billboard charts and the following week rose to #1. The album was supported by the hit singles So Yesterday, which became a staple on MTV's TRL and Come Clean, which went to the Top 10 on the pop charts. For the album Hilary won the Kids Choice Award for Favorite Female Singer and the World Music Award for Best New Female Artist. The album has sold over 3 millions copies alone in the US.
In 2004, Duff released her second album, which was self titled. Duff described the album as more personal and the sound was a little more rock than the first album. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. The first single from the album Fly was a hit on TRL, but it failed to appear on the Billboard Hot 100. Songs were soon sent out as radio singles in various countries. The album has sold over 1.8 million copies in the US.
Duff was set to release a follow up in 2005, but, instead she release Most Wanted, her first "best of" album. The album debuted at #1, and stayed there for another week. The first single Wake Up, was a hit on Radio Disney and MTV. The song became Hilary's biggest hit at the time. Beat of My Heart was the second single, and it failed to appear on the Hot 100 despite a popular music video.
Duff changed it up in 2007 with the release of Dignity. The album was praised by critics many calling it her best work to date. The album debuted at #3, making it the week's highest debut. Before the album's release the song Play With Fire was released. The song went top 40 on the dance charts and earned positive reviews. With Love, the album's first official single, was hailed by crtics as a song that: "Madonna or Kylie would love to have on their album". The song went to #24 on the Hot 100 making it Duff's highest charting song in the US. It also topped the Billboard charts: Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Dance Airplay. The album's second single, Stranger, was released to positive reviews also. It became Duff's lowest peaking single in the US, but it topped the two dance charts that With Love did, besting it's stay with a two week run at #1 on the Dance Airplay.
