BETAGARRI "BIZITZARI TXISTUKA"

Los comienzos de Betagarri se remontan a 1993. Es en aquel año cuando comienzan a preparar las canciones que acabarían tomando forma en su primera maqueta, en formato cassette, autoeditada en 1994, con una única "L" de principiantes, como título y portada. Ya por entonces, y con una única distribución tabernera, se vendieron cerca de 1.500 copias. Posteriormente ha sido reeditada en formato CD Tras perfilar lo que acabó siendo la formación definitiva, con batería, bajo, dos guitarras, trompeta, saxofón, trombón y cantante, dedicaron un par de años a presentarse en directo en un gran número de conciertos. Finalmente en 1997 editan su primer disco "BETAGARRI", con la discográfica vitoriana Mil A Gritos, con la que repetirían en la edición del segundo trabajo "ARREN ERRO ZAHARRA". Cambiaron de discográfica para editar un disco de versiones de grupos de rock vascos del que llevan vendidos más de 15.000 copias: "80/00", editado por Esan Ozenki a finales de 1999. Con la desaparición de Esan Ozenki, con quienes también editaron "FREAKY FESTA", pasan a su siguiente discográfica, Metak, en la que editan un disco de remezclas de su anterior disco: "REMIX". También "ARNASA HARTU" y el disco grabado en directo en Catalunya "ZUZENENA", al que acompaña un DVD con imagenes del concierto además de un documental sobre el grupo y algunos extras más. En 2005, la discográfica alemana Jaro publicó un recopilatorio para Alemania, Austria y Paises Bajos, con canciones de todos los discos editados hasta el momento por Betagarri. Lleva por nombre "BASQUE FIRE". En Noviembre de 2006 publicaron con Oihuna "HAMAIKA GARA". Su último disco es "Bizitzari Txistuka". En total la cifra de discos vendidos por Betagarri supera ya las 50.000 copias, además de todos los discos especiales o recopilatorios en los que ha participado con canciones nuevas o extraidas de su discografía. Como ejemplo el disco "ALTRES CANÇONS DE NADAL" editado en noviembre de 2005 por la discográfica catalana Global y en el que Betagarri aporta una canción, cantada en catalán, o el DVD "HATORTXU ROCK" en el que interpreta media docena de versiones junto a los cantantes originales (Barricada, Piperrak, Huajolotes…). En lo que a actuaciones se refiere, en estos 17 años han ofrecido más de 900 conciertos. Si bien en un principio su zona de actuación se limitaba a Euskadi y Catalunya, con los años han afianzado su presencia en todo el estado español así como en Europa. Han realizado dos giras en Japon, USA, Argentina, y decenas de conciertos en conciertos en Suiza y Alemania.

Betagarriren hastapenak 1993. urtean kokatu behar ditugu. Urte hartan beraien lehenengo maketa izango zenari forma eman behar zioten abestiak prestatzen hasi ziren. Izenburu eta azal moduan, hasiberrien "L" bakarra erazbiliz, Kasete moduan beraien kabuz kaleratutako lan horren 1500 ale inguru saldu zituzten, kontutan hartuta gehienak tabernetan banatu zituztela. Urteak geroago CD formnatuan berrargitaratua izan da. Bateria, baxua, bi kitarra, tronpeta, saxofoia eta tronboiaz osaturiko behinbetiko formazioa izango zena profilatu ondoren, bi urte eman zituzten hainbat jaialditan beraien zuzunekoa aurkezten, eta azkenean, 1997. urtean "BETAGARRI" izeneko beraien lehenengo diskoa kaleratu zuten Mil A Gritos disketxe gasteiztarraren sigilupean. Beraiekin ere argitaratu zuten bigarren diskoa, "ARREN ERRO ZAHARRA" izena zuena. Disketxez aldatu zuten 1.999. urtean, Esan Ozenkirekin, jadanik 15.000 aletik gora saldu dituen "80/00" diskoa kaleratzeko. Bertan euskal musika taldeen hogei bertsio grabatu zituzten. Esan Ozenkiren desagerpenarekin, eta beraiekin "FREAKY FESTA" diskoa ere kaleratu ostean, hurrengo disketxea Metak izan zen, non aurreko diskoaren abestiak bernahasten zituen "REMIX" argitaratu zuten. Baita ere "ARNASA HARTU" eta "ZUZENENA", Katalunian zuzenean grabaturikoa, eta kontzertua eta taldeari buruzko dokumentala jaszotzen dituen DVD batekin batera aurkeztu zutena. 2005. urtean Jaro disketxe alemaniarrak taldearen disko guztrien abestiez osaturiko bilduma bat argitaratu zuen Alemania, Austria eta Herberetan. Izenburua, "BASQUE FIRE". 2006ko azaroan Oihuka disketxearekin "HAMAIKA GARA" kaleratu zuten. Azkenengo diskoa "Bizitzari Txistuka" izan da. Betagarrik orotara saldutako diskoen kopurua 50.000tik gorakoa da, kontutan hartu gabe disko bereziak edo eta beste taldeekin batera osatutako bildumak. Adibidez "ALTRES CANÇONS DE NADAL", 2005eko azaroan Global disketxeak argitaratua, non Betagarrik katalaneraz abesturiko kanta agertzen den, edo baita ere "HATORTXU ROCK" DVDa. Bertan dozena erdi kanta jotzen dituzte jatorrizko abeslariekin batera (Barricada, Piperrak, Huajolotes…). Agerraldiei dagokionez, 17 urte luze hauetan 900 kontzertu baino gehiago eskeini dituzte. Printzipioz gehien jorratzen dituzten herrialdeak Euskal Herria eta Katalunia badira, urteak aurrera espainiar estatu osoan eta Europan zehar ere finkatu dute lan eremua. Japonian bi bira egin dituzte, EEBBtan, Argentinan, eta dozenaka kontzertu Suiza eta Alemanian.

Betagarri was born more then 13 years ago in the city that is the birthplace of nearly all the band members, Vitoria-Gasteiz, at the end of 1992, with what would be the embryo of the current formation: drums, bass, two guitars and vocalist. The members, except for the drummer, were the same as those who continue breathing life into Betagarri today. More than 500 shows made them famous way over the borders of the Basque country, throughout Europe, and lately even the US and Japan. From the beginning the band was experimenting with all kinds of different instruments, which gives them a unique touch in the wide world of Ska-Bands. Theire songs go into the folky direction, using the alboka, the txalaparta and the tambourine. Energy is given by the brass section, trumpet and sax, soon to be completed by the trombone. Their first Demo (maketa demo) was followed by the more grown and ripe demo ..L... The recording of the arch famous "L" demo allowed them to hassle all the bars in the Basque Country, where they left half a dozen copies to sell at the nostalgic price of 500 pesetas in old money. In the midst of all the coming and going that came with fame, they found time to work with other groups to build self-managed premises for band practice, the legendary "Nave Pirata", which today still gives shelter to budding groups in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Time really does fly when you're having fun, and so they spent three years offering concerts here and there, until in February 1997 they recorded their first album, "Betagarri", with the Vitoria record company Mil A Gritos, who also produced their second work, "Arren Erro Zaharra", a year later. The political aspect shouldn..t be left out talking about BETAGARRI. They sing in their own language ..Euskera... The Spanish government claimes Spanish the official language in the Basque country, a way of oppress the Basque people and culture. Keeping the Basque language and culture alive by spreading it out into the world via the music and naming the conflict, BETAGARRI and other fellow musicians ( like KORTATU, KORROSKADA, BALDIN BADA, or NEGU GORRIAK) are claimed as Terrorists by the authorities!! After more then a decade they can look onto a discography of 8 albums, their latest ..Zuzenena.. released in 2004: It..s the latest testimony that BETAGARRI is a fantastic live-experience with a certain political demand. It..s an audio-visual recording of last spring's Betagarri tour in the Basque Country and Catalonia, featuring more than 20 songs and some special features! Also, in 2005, the german label Jaro Medien released a cd named ..Basque Fire.., compiling a sort of ..best of ..album
