Since there is no FOOD section in MySpace, I’m adding my own. “Interests” seems like the best place. My Taste of the Moment is coffee—“white coffee” to be specific. “White coffee,” for those who are unfamiliar, is not the same as a latte. Oh no. It’s boiled milk and medium-sized dollop of instant coffee. That’s my Taste of the Moment.
Music
My natural bent is towards indie-rock, punk, alterative and folk.
Some of my favourite airwaves are flowing from Damien Rice, Ginosko, Paddy Casey, Hillsongs London, Damian Dempsey, Chris Tomlin, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Children 18:3.
Anyone heard of “Flogging Molly,” by the way?
I’ve recently been introduced to a few musicians worth checking out—Declan O’Rourke, Without Gravity and Bright Eyes.
Irish lad, O’Rourke, is a gentle meld of traditional Irish, soul expression and story songs. Check out Since Kyabram, particularly “Marrying the Sea” and “Sarah.” Without Gravity are one of several emerging Icelandic bands. That Nordic island has kept their melodic secrets for far too long! Bring it on! Bright Eyes commences, featuring a coffee-slurping story teller. His monologue—“At the End of Everything,” an eerie ode before diving into the sea of songs that is I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning.
Movies
I tend to like historically-based hero stories. Gladiator, Braveheart, and The Passion of the Christ feature highly on my list—heroes, motivated by love and courage, conquer their opposition, even when it cost their lives.
I enjoy Everafter Nacho Libre and Hitch
.
I’m provoked by The Wind that Shakes the Barley (recent Irish-made film. check it out), Michael Collins, and Walk the Line.
Books
In future, I’d like to write some different book/poem reviews here. At the minute, I’ll just mention two authors I appreciate.
Mitch Album. Tuesday Mornings with Morie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven.
Graham Cooke. Crafted Prayer, Developing Your Prophetic Gifting, and Hiddenness and Manifestation.
Heroes
Jesus Christ--a man of love and sacrifice.
Mother Theresa--a woman of love and sacrifice. A life well-lived.
My friend Dave--a man of courage and who has overcome.
The Mayo Gaelic Football team--a bunch of men of courage and who overcame YESTERDAY WHEN THEY WHOOPED DUBLIN!!!!

About me: I’m a 26 year old American, living in Ireland. I’m a linguist, becoming-song-writer, youth minister, poet.
I wouldn’t have rather grown up anywhere other than Minnesota—what, with the Mississippi river; the rich tapestry of brilliant colours bursting onto and falling from the trees in autumn; 10,000 (and more) lakes; summer camp; mucho feet of snow in winter; ice skating; snow angels; sitting infront of the fireplace to get warm…
You get the picture—I’m blessed.
After attending the University of Minnesota at Morris (which I’d recommend to anyone looking for that “diamond in the rough” university, small town/family atmosphere, but great education) for a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and a Master’s Degree in Linguistics and Rhetoric from North Dakota State University, I moved out into the wilds of the west of Ireland.
I’ve now been living in County Mayo for two years. What an adventure!
