About me: ..................EAT ART...............................
Art expands and multiplies when consumed................
Art, regardless of its intent, is fuel for soul and mind transportation.
.................BURN ART..................................
I am a sculptor. I make small and large multi- media sculpture and installation and paint and draw.
I use whatever material suits my current concept and mix them together - metal, ceramic, fiber, concrete etc.
I often use materials with a macho connotation employing female craft methods i.e. crocheting fishline into dress shaped sculpture or making brooms from metal lath etc. blah,, blah, blah. Take a look - what matters is what YOU see, think, feel.
My aim is to explore everyday events, ideas & materials in playful and unexpected ways to invite viewers to interact and enjoy creative possibilities in their vision and lives. Also check pics on my blog: Beth-elliott-art.blogspot.com
I most recently made an elephant sculpture from mostly recycled materials to be festooned with decorative recycled treasures gathered by Trash for Teaching. See flickr photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bethelliott/
I shred and braid my deceased parents' (and other) junk mail into sculpture to make a continuig statement of renewal from trash.
I am artist in residence at Trash for Teaching a non-profit dedicated to fostering creativity and environmentalism by teaching sculpture using industrial discards.
Who I'd like to meet: People who are interested in contemporary art, design, architecture, alternative healing, sub-tropical gardening, Huntington Doggie Beach, experimental & punk music, theater,science,- all forward thinking people
