Corky's Cats was founded by Betsan Lloyd (Sugarcubes with Bjork, Lucy Show amongst others) and Phil Powell aka CatBass (Sniffa, Purple Haze amongst others). In 2002 They hit the road as a duo, since then Corky's Cats has had many line-ups, at one point they were gigging a 7 piece line-up. Through all that time Betsan and Phil have remained the core members and since 2005 Colin Owen has become a core member.

As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!

Betsan, you and Phil created such an important body of work together that I know how difficult this must be for you. In honor of Phil of and all those like myself who loved him, I can only hope you continue to carry on.
Phil Powell's Funeral will be held at Colwyn Crematorium on Thursday 3rd December at 1.30pm. Donations will be collected for the charities 'Guitars Not Guns' & 'Clown Doctors'. My family and I are deeply touched & blown away by your tributes to Phil. May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your love & kindness. X Betsan

I've being in contact with Storm Fm in Bangor with the idea of a Blues and Jazz radio show. The station manager was very interested and hopefully the show might be on air before christmas. If it is, I'd really like to play a tribute to Phil as part of the first show.
