Betsie Larkin is a vocalist, songwriter and guest writer/vocalist out of New York City. Her collaboration with Ferry Corsten spawned two songs, "Made of Love" and "Feel You," that appeared on Ferry's album "Twice in A Blue Moon." Betsie joined Ferry at the annual production of Full on Ferry at Ahoy Rotterdam, a masquerade ball with 9,000 fans in attendance.
"Made of Love" received overwhelming support from fans and the DJ community. Soon after its release, it made the top 40 in the Netherlands. It was voted the 5th track overall in 2008 on Armin Van Buuren's "A State of Trance," number one on Above and Beyond's radio episode, and reached the number one position on Corsten's Countdown's 100th episode. "Made of Love" was the second single and the first vocal track to be released from the "Twice In A Blue Moon" album. There is also an official video (see the column on the right).
Recent EDM releases include "A New Day" with ATB, "Stronger Creature" with Kenneth Thomas, and a track with Austin Leeds/Starkillers slated for release on Ultra Records in the coming months.
Betsie's previous work has spanned rock, electronica, and independent work as a singer-songwriter. She began recording music and performing in Boston, MA with her former, mainly electronic-based band. They relocated to Los Angeles, touring west coast venues, and completing a second record. The album received glowing reviews from music mags and local press as well as airplay from KROQ in LA and college radio. Shecter guitars added them to their artist roster after hearing about the band and seeing a live show in Los Angeles at the Roxy on Sunset Boulevard.
Betsie's subsequent project, Mariposa, led to a deeper exploration into electronic music. Producer Brendan Hawkins' (Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros) added a complex and soulful quality to Betsie's stripped down compositions. Initially, their record appealed mostly to an underground audience, but spread to a broader audience with radio features and inclusion on widely distributed compilations.
Betsie completed a record titled Diary Thief with a group of good friends in Venice, CA. She then moved to NY and immediately started working on her first solo record. Together with Brooklyn producer Jon D'Uva and some of New York's top musicians, they completed her first solo EP under the title "A New Day."
