I am a native of Berkeley, California, and grew up performing with my dad, a pianist and composer whose songs were published by Disney and also used on "Captain Kangaroo." My dad passed onto me a huge repertoire of music, from children’s to Jazz and Blues to World.
I specialize in music from around the world, to reach multicultural audiences. I grew up with this music and love sharing it with kids and their grown-ups because the rhythm is so strong and fun, and it presents a wonderful way to introduce children to the beauty and importance of the world’s many cultures.
I play double bass, requinto, guitar, and several other instruments – and I also sing. I can bring rhythm instruments for the kids to play. I perform throughout the United States.
Hey Betsy. It was very nice to see you and talk to you yesterday at the Blues Jam. It is every time great to hear you sing and play double-bass.I'd like to play like you. Let me now if you'll be here the next week. PS: Excuse me for my poor English!!!

..“Foyo” by Betsy Stern is a delightful journey into the beauty and innocence of childhood. Primarily acoustic folk/jazz, this album will certainly catch the ears of the little ones. Betsy's welcoming tone is impressive and perfectly suites this genre. This CD also presents a very interesting element of creativity - the use of songs from around the world, presented in their native language. "Cadet Rouselle" is one such tune, and shows off a different yet friendly vocal tonality. Moreover, the mesmerizing acoustic intro of "Foyo" best demonstrates the impressive acoustic guitar work on this collection. Additionally, the all-too-familiar "Kookabura" jingle is presented in a fresh new manner, using jazzy guitar work and vocal arrangements. With nonintrusive production, this album maintains its originality, sincerity, and personal feel. Fans of children's classics and acoustic folk will enjoy this wonderful journey into the joys of youth. ..-Lea and the RadioIndy Reviewer Team Check out Betsy Stern's music on RadioIndy. com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
