Betsy Uschkrat, from Sugar Land, Texas is completing her Master’s Degree with the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of Costanza Cuccaro. While at IU, she has performed the roles of Juliette in Romeo et Juliette, Massenet’s title character of Manon, Adina in L’elisir d’Amore, and the title character of Susannah. She represented her school in recital at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and is a three-time winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Named the 2009 Shreveport Opera Singer of Year, Ms. Uschkrat is now an active soloist living in the New Orleans area and preparing for her upcoming summer Apprenticeship with Des Moines Metro Opera.
