Our drummer is hardcore.
Jealous?
We have now uploaded the vast majority of all 3 albums of our songs to our main website at www.betteroffdad.com
On Christmas morning, 1995, Jaimee Harris picked up her first guitar . . . and promptly dropped it. Since she was only 5 years old at the time, this transgression was easily forgiven by her father. Besides, the guitar only cost $30.
By the time Jaimee was 8, she had outgrown the toy guitar, and it was therefore replaced on Christmas morning 1998 with a Baby Taylor. Despite the diminutive name, this was a guitar she didnt drop until she was about 13, and she used it to hone her playing and writing skills.
Jaimee's father (Chris) has been a performing musician for over 20 years. A lawyer by day, his passion is and will always be music. From the time he first recorded Jaimee singing backup vocals in 2002, he knew she had something special. It didnt take long before Dad was singing backups for Jaimee.
As the recordings they made in their humble home studio in Waco, Texas circulated among members of the local music community, they began to get requests to play live shows. Finally, in December of 2004, Dad broke down and bought a P.A. and Better Off Dad (Featuring Jaimee Harris) was born. Playing a blend of Acoustic Pop and Folk-Rock, BODs following around Texas is small, but fiercely loyal.
Since December of 2004, B.O.D. has independently recorded and released 3 full length albums (Grateful Dad/2004, Great Expectations/2005, & "Songs To Break Up To"/2007). The recordings impress people, but it is in the live setting in which Jaimees talent truly shines. Compared to the likes of Sheryl Crow and Patty Griffin, Jaimee is a 17 year old singer-songwriter with the heart of a poet and the voice of a mildly irritated angel.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. My new record "Another Winter" will be out in September...new songs will be up soon. Thanks and please visit me again. -Michelle
Hey, got your card today. Could use a reason to go to CO--especially in the summer, so summer school would be good. I love you, and you are my favorite High School Graduate Niece.
Ahh man, I was hoping yall would win the ourstage contest. It was rigged! LOL The "best" song definitely didn't win, and a few of those in the top 10 didn't even belong there, IMHO.
Oh well, such is the way of internet voting. LOL
Shoulda been you at the number 1 spot and Jenn Adams at the number 2.
I know yall track at home, but are you guys still mastering your songs at home? The quailty is through the roof!
Just finished voting. That was a LOT quicker than the 190 battles the other night. LOL Looks like you're sitting at #2 right now. Time to get dad to hit the recording message boards and get some people motivated to vote. ;-) 45 battles only took minutes to vote on. Good luck!
YOU GUYS NEED TO DO SOME MORE ROCK LIKE ON "FALL AWAY"...I've had that song on my Zune for over a year now and everytime I listen to it I just WISH YOU GUYS DID ROCK...you guys could make Evanescence and Lacuna Coil go to shame!
One question -I know Better off Dad is good- but how good was Tad Dries on Monday night? He is the best original songwriter out there. That must have been quite a good show!!!
So last night Tommy & Diana had nothing better to do than record the song that's become our show closer, "Southern Lullaby". They home recorded it in Diana's room. Give it a listen and tell us what you think of the demo.
Also, we uploaded a live performance of one of our fav's, "Rhyme". Hope you enjoy.
This is Paul - dad to the Judas Feet kids. Yeah, that's probably Steve's old studio you're talking about. it used to be in Hewitt. Now he's down closer to Austin. We had a great time recording there. He lives upstairs and records downstairs. Just did 2 songs for B.R.A.N. (Baylor Rising Artists Network), but we talked to him about recording our next cd there. He's a cool guy. So, are you gonna be at Common Grounds tomorrow? If so, go talk to Diana & Tommy and tell 'em who you are. We think y'alls music is wonderful. Should do some shows together sometime. Ok, so, God bless. Take care.
