About me:
"I think that life would suddenly seem wonderful to us if we were threatened to die as you say. Just think of how many projects, travels, love affairs, studies it - our life - hides from us, made invisible by our laziness which, certain of a future, delays them incessantly. But let all this threaten to become impossible for ever, how beautiful it would become again! Ah! if only the cataclysm doesn't happen this time, we won't miss visiting the new galleries of the Louvre, throwing ourselves at the feet of Miss X., making a trip to India. The cataclysm doesn't happen, we don't do any of it, because we find outselves back in the heart of normal life, where negligence deadens desire. And yet we shouldn't have needed the cataclysm to love life today. It should be enough to think that we are humans, and that death may come this evening." -Marcel Proust

Well it's a shame that you missed the thing on Monday, although I suppose it is fair that students get second choice :o)

I'm pretty sure you can view the presentations on the website somewhere pretty soon anyway, even if not right now.

It is an interesting concept, although from the demonstration the woman mentioned that "sellers" or people trying to make a profit have left Second Life, and now the "educators" are getting in there. Which I find a bit strange - why would you create a virtual life for yourself, and then go to the library???
But then that raises the question of where libraries will be in 2020 - and that kids nowadays (as in, young children, primary school age) are probably going to access the information available through a library through their PC at home.

It's all very deep :o)

I've worn glasses since grade 2 so there's nothing nerdy about them if you ask ME!

Oh I'm glad it wasn't you, cause I didn't think it was and then I thought that if it WAS then I would feel bad cause I didn't say anything. I'm glad I didn't now!

It was half interesting, half totally boring. Helen Blowers, from the US, was really interesting. She did two presentations and they were both great. Melanie from Casey Cardinia did an interesting one, but the others were mainly boring "blow your own trumpet" kinda presentations from public libraries.

OH and one lady from Murdoch Uni in WA did a presentation on Second Life. Are you "in" Second Life? The crude graphics turn me off, plus I find it a strange concept altogether. It was interesting, but not interesting enough to make me want to join Second Life :o)

Were you there on Monday!? I didn't see you! I looked for you, there was one girl that could've been you but she didn't look like what I thought you look like...maybe it was you? She looked like my friend Sally so I was put-off the hunt!

G'day Sue! My holiday's are going great. I'm doing some jobs for a fine organisation in South Melbourne and I'm off to Vanuatu with the lovely lady next week. I'd be happy not to go back at all. I just passed in the report for Sue; she said it was barely a pass. And I'm sure we'll get a good mark for YOUthSPACE, so I'm happy. How did you go in your results?
Ben
