The goth rock band "Bettie Black" has reformed into a new project called "Daughter Of Mars". The music is the brainchild of SF punk songwriter Liz Rose.
After graduating SFSU with a theater degree in 1997, Rose fronted several acclaimed rock bands in the SF club scene such as Glow and Runaway Bunny. This led to her first record, "Mega".
After seeing Bauhaus at The Warfield in 2005, she began a deep exploration of post punk and goth music which led to the birth of the band Bettie Black. Taking her cue from Bauhaus and Joy Division, she wrote and recorded her breakthrough EP entitled "Bettie Black". The CD was released in November 2006 and gained a tremendous amount of airplay on college radio stations around the US.
And the next chapter has begun with her new band, Daughter of Mars. With the addition of veteran SF goth guitarist Stephan Salit, and punk bassist Lynne Elektra, the new band is a progression from the days of Bettie Black, moving in a more upbeat, Stooges influenced direction.
On October 31st, 2009 at midnight, Rose released 4 new songs from a recording session at Hyde Street Studios in 2007. These songs feature Sean Griffin on guitar, Ralph Spight on bass and Nate Toutjian on drums. These songs are available now through Reverbnation and Myspace.
