But, Wink Martindale, oh how you tempt, you minx.
About me: I am a writer from NYC who lives with my bulldog, Duncan. I recently returned after living in LA for a spell. I have a fondness for dive bars, great music, a book I can't put down, Bettie Page, that hour of the night when everyone seems asleep but you, Edward Hopper, "This American Life", pulp novels & old girlie magazies, people-watching, Modigliani, Sailor Jerry tats, John Register, a good movie and basically anything that opens my eyes and razzes by berries. Normally, I work as a full time and overtime as a writer and editor, but am currently on the mend with Lupus, my constant, unpredictable, and ever irritating companion. I have written and edited for a number of magazines, and subscribed to dozens--hey, I have the tote bags to prove it. I'm freelancing as a copywriter, proofreader, editor of novels and short stories, and a writer. I currently have two short stories published in an anthology entitled "Falling From The Sky" by Another Sky Press (www.anothersky.org). I am finishing my first book, a collection of short stories including (some glaringly autobiographical) tales about the unexpected sucker punch that is the craptastic impact of illness; working as a cigarette girl in the NYC club scene; living with a mentally ill family member; the basic complexities and occasional glimpses of rapture in our everyday life; kitchen sink looks at our real life; rave-ups and breakdowns...and so on. Despite the description, there is actually quite a lot of humor! When I am not writing, I am usually listening to my iPod too loudly, staying up too late, daydreaming, working, reading, walking the dog (literally-that's not a metaphor), plotting my next caper, and generally making merry. And remembering that all that wander are not lost as I enjoy the ride.
Happy birthday to the prettiest birthday girl. You rule. Apologies in advance for the picture below. I know those Gen-X 'Knight Rider' fantasies emerge upon sight of the 'Hoff...
