Between the Bars is a weekly music column in W Weekly magazine.
I, Samantha Herald, a resident of Lexington and participant in the local music scene, am the sole author. I am currently active in two bands, The Melody Function and Ideal Free Distribution, and have always been very supportive of local music.
The aim of Between the Bars is to highlight current news concerning any and all local bands. I will address topics such as current recording projects, bands on tour, album releases, lineup modifications, local shows…etc. This column will not be restricted to one specific genre but will attempt to cover all types of music as long as it is local and newsworthy.
So, if you are involved in the Lexington music scene and would like to be included in the fun this is what you should do:
1. Befriend Between the Bars on myspace. (Please feel free to leave shows and news as comments!)
2. Keep me abreast on all current news via email or aim.
You may contact me concerning your music, a friend’s music, or just about something you heard that you thought was newsworthy. I want to know it all.
Just wanted to give you some info for your section in the W.
Heartthrob is completely revamping its sound and lineup. We are getting rid of our drummer and signing up a drum machine due to "creative differences". Our music is going to gravitate towards a funky and fresh club atmosphere with emphasis on german polka. Imagine Interpol meets Klaus Nomi. We are going to be on tour hitting all the karaoke bars on the lower east side of lexington ky, and hope to be finished with our new cassette tape ("The Hungry Hippo Incident") by the end of 2019.
Print this up, I think the people need to know.
