UK soul queen Beverley Knight has completed work on her 6th studio album, entitled “100%” and due for release on September 7th 2009 through Hurricane Records – the independent label Beverley co-owns. The multi award-winning star has worked with a fine array of collaborators and producers to complete a body of work that is sure to be widely acknowledged as the best album of her career so far.
Beverley is releasing the first single from ‘100%’, Beautiful Night’, on September 7th. Co written with award winning songwriter Amanda Ghost, it’s a stunning, bittersweet lament, that superbly combines Beverley’s heartfelt lead vocal over haunting synthesiser runs, vocal harmonies, and an infectious piano hook to create a soul/pop classic.
Following 2007’s critically acclaimed Music City Soul album, forthcoming set ‘100%’ represents a shift in style. Knight comments: “The last album was like a concept album –it was me revisiting some of my inspirations from the classic Southern Soul era. This new album has an altogether more contemporary feel. I worked with some fantastic people, legends even, and it has inspired me to make what I consider to be some of the best music of my career. It’s certainly the most fun I’ve ever had making a record.”
100% sees triple Mobo award winning Knight working with illustrious former writing partners Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) and Jimmy Hogarth (Adele, Duffy) as well as with multi Grammy Award winning legends Jam and Lewis (Janet Jackson, Usher, Mariah Carey), and Ivor Novello winning songwriter Amanda Ghost (Beyonce, Shakira). Producers on “100%” include hot UK duo The Rural (Gym Class Heroes, Beyonce) and award winning production partnership Bacon & Quarmby (Sugababes, Finlay Quaye). The album also features a duet with soul legend Chaka Khan.
September also sees the launch of Knight’s cosmetics range for dark skin: “K by Beverley Knight”, to be launched exclusively in Selfridges stores and rolled out other stores including Debenhams and John Lewis afterwards. She comments: “Like the majority of black and dark skinned women I found there wasn’t any range that provided the full range of colours I needed. I was so excited to be offered a chance to work on my own range of products.”
A new album, her own label, a cosmetics range and a UK tour in November - 2009 is set to be Beverley Knight’s year – 100%.
“100%” is released on Hurricane Records September 7th 2009.

I am just stopping to wish you all the very best for the weekend. I hope that you are having the time of your life. I love the fact that you are doing so many shows and hope that I will be able to catch you at the Royal Albert Hall next year. That should give me time to feel better than I do at the moment. You are a brilliant artiste, and have never failed to enjoy your work. Do drop by my site, I have just added you there as a top friend. I do move people around to give everyone a chance, so if in 6 months time you take a look and you are not there, it is not because you have fallen out of favour, but because I am giving someone else a break.
Thanks for your friendship.
Sending my love, friendship, blessings and respect.
